Types of Carpet?

I am looking for the best type/ brand of carpet for the stairs, hallway and four bedrooms. It needs to be high traffic and stain resistant for the stairs and plush for the bedrooms. I started looking and I am overwhelmed by the options. Dose anyone have any suggestions what would fit the space.

I have carpet on my stairs, and it has more than once caused dangerous slips. If I could do it over, I'd go with something flat and solid on the stairs rather than carpet. Do a low-pile, rough surface like berber if you absolutely must carpet the stairs. Look for carpet for the other areas that is pet-proof to give you the greatest resistance, even if you don't have pets. You can also get underlayment products for carpet that will help keep staining from penetrating. Darker colors are going to hide wear better, for sure.

Yes, berber would be a good option for you. For lower maintenance, I would go with a color that will not show dirt as much (I had a light-colored berber at a previous house, and it had a tendency to show dirt, so I had to work harder to keep it looking nice).

since I like a change if I’m replacing something I wouldn’t pay $500 extra for the same. There are literally thousands of options to choose from. Leopard in ALL bedrooms? That might be a bit much :). .... although our best friend would say go for it !
