New Pool Project - Travertine Pavers - Color Enhancer? Sealer?
Comments (23)Looks great. Our pool is 25 years old so when we decided to resurface and tile the pool we considered all sorts of options for changing the shape and design. But in the end it would have run $$$$ instead of $$ so PebbleSheen and tile it is. Here's a couple pictures of the Aqua Blue after a day of chemicals (please excuse the dead grass from the pool company!), though the camera just can't do the true color justice. Different angle/time of day, different water color. The water probably needs a few more days of circulation for the end color to come through but I think it's probably pretty close. We really struggled with the Aqua Blue / Blue Granite decision....See MoreTravertine pavers base for patio
Comments (0)Hi, I live in Houston which has a high clay content in the soil and am about to install travertine pavers on my patio. Some neighbours have had this done where the installer mixed sand and concrete and used this as the base for the pavers, no aggregate base. Everything I read online says to use a 4-6 gravel base first then 1 inch of sand. The pavers are 1.25 inches thick. Who's right?...See MoreIvory travertine pavers vs. walnut color -pictures please!!
Comments (5)We just went through this as well (doing a tile overlay on concrete). We were offered a beige travertine which is between a walnut and ivory. Ultimately we went away from walnut due (what we thought) was a pinkish tone we wanted to avoid and we wanted to something to contrast the pool coping which is chocolade, a very light brown similar to walnut. I've included some pictures below. We are going to seal the tile, so I used a wet cloth on them just before the pictures were taken. Beige on the left and walnut on the far end (I rotated this image, but not rotated right here on the web page) Same scene here. Walnut on the left and beige on the right. Chocolade coping at the top left. Please ignore the other one (scabas I think?) We had to order two large ivory caps for the columns, because beige did not come that big. Here is Ivory (left), beige tile, and the chocolade pool coping in the foreground. Again all wet wiped before the pic....See MoreMarble pavers vs Travertine - pool deck in FL
Comments (11)We do! It’s been a year though… I felt like the cleaning solution they use was a bit harsh for this natural stone and might erode it. Installer said to use bleach as well😮. This is my first experience using travertine so we are still figuring it all out. We bought an electric pressure washer and have been using that. It works for a while then it comes back because of rain and sprinkler overspray. What ever you decide on make sure they don’t have any low areas that catch water and that it is angled to drain well. If I did it again, I’d take a water hose to it and see where they needed to adjust....See MoreTony Wong
