Personally, I would not move the DW to the other side of the sink, rather, I would move that drawer stack (or trash pullout). That would: (1) Place the trash pullout right where you need it most - in the Prep Zone and next to the Cooking Zone, (2) Make it easier to reach the trash while cleaning up as well (no dodging around an open DW), (3) Give you 39" to 42" of prep space b/w the corner and the sink (18" trash pullout + 12" drawer base or tray cabinet + 12" or 9" of the corner susan - see later about the susan's dimensions), and (3) Put your Prep Zone in front of the window. Most people spend at least 70% of their time prepping and only 20% cleaning up. The other 10% is spent cooking. I'd rather place the Zone I spend the most time in in front of the window....and that means the Prep Zone (with the sink next to it). Is the corner susan a 36"x36" corner susan? If it is not, I would seriously consider making it that size. Yes, you can get 36"x33" susans, but the front opening is smaller and may or may not be big enough for what you plan to store there. Decide what you will store in the corner susan and be sure the smaller opening will work for you. Many of us here have found that corner susans are great for storing pots & pans and/or small appliances. I really wish you could get mores space b/w the range and doorway, but unless you're willing/able to move doorways, I don't see a way to do that and still keep the Cooking Zone out of the path b/w the Foyer and the rest of the house. If you find that a 33"x36" corner susan will work for you, I would switch the 33" side to the range side. That would give you a 15" cabinet on the other side of the range...at least that's another 3" of safety zone and emergency landing space b/w the range and Foyer doorway.

I know today’s trend is minimalist white trim, but I wouldn’t change those windows or their trim. They look gorgeous to me, but I’m a boomer who views wood as a high quality feature. Real wood is a sign of quality because it is generally more expensive than the sleek lines in today’s styles that are made with less expensive synthetic materials that are painted versus stained. The arched mill work on those large windows is awesome and was not cheap. I don’t think you’ll achieve the look you are seeking by painting. Just my opinion.

Thanks, all! Yes - these pictures make the trim look more black... but they are definitely brown (painted). and I agree that the window and door in the kitchen are great, we really like those. It's the living room and dining area that feel dark and old to us. Thanks for the helpful feedback!

Any paint color can look good with stucco, I think, it is more a matter of complementing the style of the house and the chosen trims and roof. Some house styles will not be "right" with a very dark color or with a big bold color. And your personal taste plays a role, of course. Someone else with more expertise on actual paint shades in the market would have to chime in. You might try some of the paint manufacturers websites - they all have a "visualizer" where you can upload a photo of your house and try out different colors
