Finally ready to fix wall color. Please help me coordinate.
Comments (33)Oakley- I like the Sisila but don't know that that works with the furniture. It also has gold in it. (Dang pinkish carpets.) I know it give the dimensions of the scale but it helps me to see the fabric IRL or a photo of it on something. I'll look around, thanks. I also like the Selim but the colors are little too cheery. I'm going to pass on the table. I like it but starting thinking it reminded me of a nightstand. I have bb wallpaper leftover. I actually have painted posterboard inside the ends, but could cover foamcore board. Tina - That made sense about preferring the color in accents. I think her pillows are from PB. I like all her pillows and would switch her houses, ha. Sadly, our PB outlet was really lacking the last time I was there. Tuesday - I really like those photos, thank you. Kswl - I like crewel work pillows. About the burlap tablecloth, with the wingchair being beige/tan you don't think that side would be lacking color; worsening the unbalanced feel? I've been meaning to get a glass top so will look into local. Geo, Val, Tuesday, Oakley, Kswl - I pick up a sample of the Saybrook. It is a pretty color and on and off over the past 6 months I've had occasional thoughts of painting the kitchen area (currently BM Olive Branch) a similar color. I think it would work better with the floor, etc. Anyhow, my biggest concern is I paint the room Saybrook and 6 months down the road we decide to replace the furniture. It's not in the plans but... I also think I'd feel more comfortable with a color like Shaker as it's similar to what I have. I was thinking about carrying the LR color through the foyer and hall, which also has the brown carpet, to help the flow. The color there is even worse than the LR color paired with the carpet. I never cared for it once on the walls. Geo - I like the idea of the Saybrook better for accents in the room. I'd be ok with changing the back of bookends to that color. I like the cream idea too. I probably could take the doors off but DH and I both like the glass. Also the ends light up and we turn them on a night. The shelves consist of mostly books and wooden ducks that are sentimental, but the few other things could change. Comments (12)Okay, gotcha, I think I get it! So you were saying if the floor is faded (cheap laminate, so no idea) flip the island around in its same footprint THEN add two cabs on the stove side. That is a thought, and it will depend on the floor. Still not sure if it even goes under the island cabs, although i suspect it will. MAJOR update, however! I went back to see the KD at HD, she actually has a bachelor's in Interior Design. I was just having an AWFUL time trying to create a kitchen that appealed to both my warm side and my cool side, and we decided that the Bedford marble was not going to give me anything but cool. Sooo.......we chose a quartz together, instead! I swore I was not going to do stone, but the piece she picked out (Antella by Viatera) is so amazing in the subtle color tones in it. We picked an amazing color palette so cabs and trim will be BM White Dove, the island will be painted either BM Smoke Embers or BM Baltic Gray, but probably the lighter, and the wall color will be BM Cedar Key or a shade darker. I am not going to post a photo of the quartz because photos do it no justice at all! To top it all off, I stopped in at the local art tile place even though i was planning on beadboard backsplash and found a tile and accent that blew me away and totally "finished" a kitchen design that I didn't even see coming! I am pretty sure I am using Silver Shadows honed marble with a wicked cool accent mosaic from Bati Orient. It is technically way out of my style but I am soooo in love with it and it adds the perfect amount of bling to an otherwise bland-ish kitchen and the colors match PERFECTLY with my palette, tiles and counter. Picture does not do it much justice. So, that was my little surprise for the day, starting it with one kitchen and ending up in a totally different one and LOVING it! My angst is all gone. Cannot wait to get this finished and share some pics!...See MoreHusband v. Wife - coordinating flooring with wood trim. HELP US PLEASE
Comments (13)I would recommend the LVT as opposed to the Pergo/Laminates. I do not recommend the gray color LVT you have pictured. Of the photos you have posted, the Eucalyptus is my choice. However, I know you said you do not want to paint the trim; my concern with that is what type of shoe molding will you be installing? Or will you be removing the base moldings and reinstalling them? When it comes to a floating floor system, besides the furniture "holding down" the floor, we either install base or shoe molding or both in some cases. You will have to decide which floor goes with your trim color as well as whether or not you are going to install shoe molding or remove the base molding and reinstall it....See MorePlease help to make space more welcoming with right color coordination
