As the others have said, pruning will not make them break dormancy sooner. The reason it is suggested to prune late for frost protection is because the buds on the end of the cane will break first, and are therefore more likely to be damaged by frost. If you cut those buds off early, then the buds you kept will break first and run the risk of frost damage. Leaving the canes un-pruned is essentially a way to delay bud break (for the buds you intend to keep). Around here (where frost is a real threat until mid May), many growers "rough prune" early leaving extra buds. Then come back and prune the vines again after the buds at the end of the cane have broken. It does help to reduce the risk of frost damage. If you do prune after the vine breaks dormancy, sap will flow from the wounds, but that is normal.

A little update. I re-potted this guy and I think he looks MUCH better. I'm happy with how he came out. Now the waiting game for the jade cuttings begin! I hope they take root.

Not to be a downer, but the best you can do right now is hope for the best and be EXTREMELY carful about watering. It has no leaves so it won't be using much water at all. Give it light and don't over water. The problem is this time of year we have much shorter daylight hours so that doesn't help the case. Not that it matters now, but I would have cut half way between where the leaves where growing and not removed them completely. It's possible it'll come back though.
