At first glance, I think your dishwasher needs to move to the left of your sink, the range needs to move to that back wall where your blender is, and fridge needs to move to the other end of the wall (where the little cabinet to the left of the range is) and fill the wall between fridge and dining room with pantry cabinets and/or a high cabinet with a microwave shelf. If you want to open the wall a bit, you could just do fridge-narrow pantry-base cabinet on that kitchen/living room wall. sorry if that doesn't make a lick of sense. I'm happy to draw it out if you provide dimensions and door/window locatoins.

@mama goose_gw zn6OH I do want all drawer bases, and I completely understand their utility (Ikea has so many awesome ones in their example kitchens!), but I wanted the clean lines of the slab doors, plus the expense of all drawers is significantly higher, and that concerns me. I did consider making the one under the sink a pullout. My compromise, thus far, was to do slab fronts and add pull-outs to the inside. I have an interior pullout drawer in the cabinet by the range and it serves me well. My earlier layout does keep with the same plumbing, though I'm not averse to changing it, if I can afford it. Part of the consideration for the layout was to keep the existing boxes for the cabinets, veneer them, and replace the bottom of the cabinet in the sink box. I think (by my estimate) it would save me around $1500 on those wall/base boxes, excluding installation. I still need to find a pro to give me real estimates, though. I made simplified versions of your plans in Ikea (takes a lot longer in sketchup). I like the corner one, though I lose a lot of storage cabinets. I can't get myself to like the plain Galley-Style kitchen. I'm not sure what bugs me about it. I do want a hutch-style, if I can, because we are big tea drinkers (boba, hot & cold) and I'd love a "tea station." That was the reason for the spot on the left in my earlier post.

The blue and green and brown are going...once 2 walls separating kitchen are gone it will all be open. It's gonna be a large space and new color will have to go down hallway too. Not sure what will look best with the carpet, trim and kitchen cabs. Go all one color? Go a darker hue of same color around cabinets/foyer? Do an accent wall? Keep it simple and just paint same color for everything?

It looks like there is general agreement that the proposed approach by your architect is not the right one for this house. Without knowing more about what would be affected on the inside of the rooms whose windows are being changed, it is difficult to be very directive, but once again, the general idea here is to think about going wider not taller and keep the panes clear, not divided. In a bedroom, there must be an egress, so the style is somewhat dictated by fire code. You need a big enough opening for a human to get in or out. Budget considerations may affect your decision here. Bright white trim combined with your stone is never going to look right, so consider painting the wood trim that cases the unpaintable window frames a transition colour like BM Revere Pewter that will blend with your stone better and still be light enough not to make the white unpaintable parts look too stark. Some additional colour ideas are contained below. Re: your front door, I'm wondering if the sidelights are amber as many were in the 70s. If so, change out the glass first into an obscured but translucent option and see if that solves your lighting issue with the entry. If it still isn't enough, put a some glass in a new door but make sure it is consistent with the era of the house. (some examples shown below.) As others have mentioned, landscaping will also make a dramatic difference. I'm guessing you're in bug country or there would already be an outdoor patio on the outside of the sliding doors of your sunroom. If not, make sure that is part of your landscaping plan.
