The dryiness issue can or cannot be an issue. Its tough to say without a picture. Everyones definition of dry is a bit different. A picture would be helpful. But generally speaking if an area looks dry it needs another coat. The puddle issue is just sloppy finishing. IF it is a puddle and not something else. Depending the size it can be addressed abd a good pro can make it blend. But sometimes the puddle needs to be sanded out. And depending on the location and the layout it may or may not need to have the entire room recoated. Sorry for generalizing but without more info (ie PICS) thats the best i can do

Folks: The hardwood floor sub did a dark custom stain (80% Ebony and 20% Mahogany) and 4 coats of poly. The end result is beautiful..however, there seem to be scuff marks and dust in the cracks which are not going away. Sub is saying they will go away over time. Would appreciate your thoughts? I find it hard to believe that they cannot be fixed...and also wonder if the scuff marks are poly on the installer's shoes what is the best solution to solve this. Thanks for your help. I would love to post pictures but cannot figure out how. tks

So here's the ELEPHANT in the room...which no one sees. The floor is NAILED in place. NO GLUE. Ooops...I'm going to say that MOST WIDE PLANK floors require glue. And we rank anything 5" or WIDER as 'wide plank'. You have 5.25" floor planks. Before I condemn your installer, you will need to FIND the name of the product and the line you purchased. Then you will go onto their website and look at 'technical specifications' or 'downloads'. You will then pull up the "installation requirements" for YOUR floor. Often they are all together on one document. There will be a SPECIFIC set of instructions for 'wide planks'. IN it it will say something to the effect of, 'Planks 5" or wider will require full glue or glue assist method of installation if not floated'. That's kinda what I'm looking for. As SOON as it says YOUR wood floor REQUIRES GLUE the manufacturer won't touch it. The installer owes you a replacement warranty equal to what he voided...or he comes in and removes/reinstalls the floor properly. Before we get too excited, go ahead and find the NAME of the product and the colour/line you purchased. And bring in the link for the installation instructions. I've read so many of these things I could just spit! But it means I know what I'm looking for. A first time 'reader' is going to have their head spinning within the first paragraph. Nope. Not kidding.

I have no issue with this. It is wood. It had a life before the finish. You have face nailed hardwood floors which means you can only go so deep with these guys. I personally would spend my $7/sf on something else. Ahem...yes. I said $7/sf. That's often what we see as a price tag for Bona Traffic HD with 3 coats. I would give it 6 months. If you STILL feel the floors look 'dirty' then bring the guys back in and pay for them to redo the floors. Go ahead and spend the $7/sf again...and go ahead and ask for a 3 coat system. It is MUCH tougher than the 2 coat that they have given you.
