Garter snake surprise...still out and about so late in the year.
This one was sun bathing and I startled it while working around the yard on Tuesday.
Yours looks like a Plains gartersnake.
Michael, we have Eastern garter snakes in our area.
My husband holding a bull snake.
A snake handler, eh? :)
Serpent sculptures in Mexico City
In the Ocala National Forest, near Salt Springs, FL.
Some sort of SE Asian snakes - Mekong Delta, Vietnam. The one on the right had just finished shedding its skin, that's a remnant of the old skin on its head:
I want nothing to do with snakes! No, nope, nothing, nada, zip! I run screaming and even just seeing these pictures will give me nightmares tonight!!
I'm just sharing some nice, non-moving, non-lethal, banana bread. :)
This is the Eastern Timber Rattlesnake that was living underneath our steps - luckily we have a Game Warden in our neighborhood who is licensed to catch them and collect the venom.
Lars - is that a Western Diamondback?
I like snakes. This from a snake show that daughter treated me to in August
I like your snake pin, Igmd_gaz, and that is a beautiful snake you are holding!
Dawn, I have several snake pins, but sadly I don't wear them much, because most people that I associate with are disturbed when seeing me wear them. I have 3 beautiful (to me) snake figurines that I have to hide when 3 relatives come to visit me or they won't come in my house.
That's a shame, Igmd_gaz. I'm a bit leery of snakes, but the fear and revulsion people have towards them is largely undeserved, although I understand that the fear many people have is genuine.
