Do you have a fabric choice in there already, what about floors or anything else that you need to "relate" to? Just going by what you mentioned, cherry cabs look great with greens. I think I would try changing out the hardware and painting the background wall color above the cabs something dark like a rich chocolate brown. Or a deeper green. That would allow the lighter cabnets to really pop and take center stage. If that doens,t make enough of a change in the room for you then glazing may just be the right thing to do. I think with those cabs glazing could well be the answer your looking for if they were done with a base color thats opposite on the color wheel it would really help to cut the orange your not liking and glazing would be a easier option than a major allover color change. To get a solid color change that matchs on that many cabs would be more difficult then a glaze. I would def. try painting that upper background color first though. I think it would give that kitchen the pop of color it needs to really stand out.

I'm not sure what Sierra Madre looks like, and what shade of 'dark' on the cherry...Do you have a photo of samples you could show? I'm guessing it will be great from what I'm imagining, but without knowing the exact real colors, it's impossible to say.

These are cherry cabnets with a ginger stain. We considered red oak but thought it looked like we were trying to match colors and didn't quite make it. Also DW didnt like the pore pronounced grain of oak and at $1.00 SQ. foot more Maple was affordable. http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr54/jaksown/DSC00933.jpg We decided on maple with Natural stain to add some red highlights but more of a subtle contrast. We consideres a deeper stain on the Maple but didn't like the "blotchy" look that maple takes on with other than a natural stain.
