MIELE Steam Oven / Combi Steam Oven
Comments (7)(Cross-posted in other Miele Steam Oven threads) We bought a Miele DGC 6800 Combination Steam Oven (non-plumbed) and a few months later on a whim descaled the unit. Right after the descaling process, my Miele steam oven gives me a 'Fault 20' whenever I try to do steam cooking. The regular convection cooking works fine. Wish I had something else! It's out of warranty even though we probably used it about 20 times. Now Miele is asking for $150 for a technician to come out and pay an additional $90/hr for labor + $ for parts!...See MoreMiele Steam/Combi Steam ovens - plumbed vs non-plumbed?
Comments (45)I don't know the answer but I am curious. if I were you (and having the benefit of hindsight) I wouldn't hesitate to call any of the Miele USA "Experience Centers" and ask to talk to any of the design staff. If you are in the US start with the Princeton, NJ center, their US headquarters. Even better if you can get to a center. The staff at these centers are a world apart from anyone you'll encounter at any appliance dealer, they use the products for demos and classes and typically have the appliances in their own homes. And it's their job to know the details on what you are asking. And report back and let us know. P.S: A little searching and I found this: https://www.mieleusa.com/media/ex/us/PressReleases/2021/9.2021_Generation_7000_Launch.pdf. Food View sounds interesting. Comments (2)I love my Miele CSO. It has all of the regular baking functions as my Miele 30” oven including a non-convection bake (although I use convection bake whenever I would use regular bake in my old oven). It also has a broiler. I would suggest the XXL (not available when I purchased) as you can’t easily fit two levels of baking dishes simultaneously in the XL. I tried to bake two pans of hamburger buns when my 30” oven was not working and it didn’t work out very well. Theoretically the MIele CSO can do anything my 30” oven can do - constraints are pan sizes and ease of cleaning. Since the CSO is not the easiest to clean and does not have a self clean feature - I use my 30” oven for messy items such as broiling veggies like tomatoes, roasting messy meats that we don’t put on the grill and anything else that tends to splatter. Although most of my baking pans fit in the CSO - I use the 30” when needing half sheet pan sizes, large pizza stones, baking two cake layers, larger cookie sheets, pans with long handles etc. I think you would be fine pairing your CSO with lower price point 30” oven. Enjoy your remodel!...See MoreHas anyone compared a Miele steam (or Combi Steam) oven with a Blue St
Comments (0)I've always insisted on a gas oven, but now, doing a full kitchen remodel, I wonder if the combi steam-convection ovens have replaced the need for a gas oven for roasting and broiling. Trying to decide whether I really need a Blue Star range or wall oven in my new kitchen. Thanks for your perspectives!...See MoreThe Chair Affair LLC
