Entryway/Coat closet or Cleaning/Vaccuum closet more important?
Comments (5)I think it could be both, but if you had to choose (and I've had to in the last place and this one, ) I would make sure I had a place to store a vacuum cleaner and broom and such, as well as outdoor boots, shoes and umbrellas. We accommodated pretty easily to keeping our coats upstairs, but it's a pain to have to store the vacuum, brooms and such far away from where you use them, or outdoor boots and such far from the front door, and the only alternative is to leave them out in plain view....See MoreWhat do you think about coat closets?
Comments (12)In your set up I don't think it needs to go in the mudroom. It doesn't add any value there. The value of the coat closet is for it to be right near the entrance so that guest coats and sometimes even shoes can go in there when people come over. Your mudroom serves a different purpose and houses things your family uses. I would actually take back the space for the kid bedroom. I for one would take closed cupboards with interior shelving and place them on the laundry wall. I'd put the vacuum in there, cleaning supplies, and seasonal things your family uses like possibly mittens/gloves depending on location....See MoreNeed ideas for new house that has no coat closet

Comments (28)I like Elizabeth's idea. If you decide to move the laundry to your coat closet, keep the existing supply and electrical lines in the garage for the future. If you decide to sell your house, you can always move the equipment back to the garage for staging. The realtor can let potential buyers know there are supply lines in the closet should the buyers want to use that arrangement....See Moredecormyhomepls
