Wall paint design for baby nursery

Trying to decide between 2 wall ideas for baby's nursery:

1. see attached picture - but colors would be sky blue (one blue shade darker than the second shade) , with the rest of the walls left the white/off-white color (same as the stripe in the middle). Is this a design we'd likely get tired of down the line? Can you hang photos on a wall like this?

OR

2. One entire wall sky blue color and the adjacent wall (which also has a window), a lighter shade of blue, the 3rd and 4th walls would be left off-white? If we leave the 3rd and 4th walls the white/off-white color, will there be a disconnect in the room since the other walls are blue (noting that the furniture will be white, so we'd have a white dresser against a blue wall).?

OR

3. Top half one of the darker blues, lower half the lighter shade blue (white stripe in the middle) for one wall. The rest of the walls left white...?

Attached are the 2 shades of blue I'd like to use.

I'd avoid triangle blocks of color. In many master paintings, a triangular arrangement is used to intensify the drama of the subject. Intense drama is not something I'd choose if a restful nursery was my aim, IMO. .

Roo, I recently went to our local decorator showhouse and they had a room with a car theme so here are some ideas: The neatest thing I saw was an oval mirror with a black frame with matchbox cars glued to the frame to look like a racetrack. They also had valances and a bedskirt made from pices of (what looked like) felt with pictures of various license plates. It looked like they used photo print material and ironed it onto the pieces of felt. They had a seat from the back of a van as seating (it was kind of neat, and kind of odd simultaneously - if that makes sense.) They also had 1 wall covered in maps as the theme had a travel element to it as well. I know these are not exactly baby oriented but if you decide to go with cars, the ideas might get you thinking. I do think the oval mirror was so cute and could be cheap and easy and would be okay for a baby too. Pam

I guess I have posted too many picture this month so now they are being held hostage by photobucket. I don't have time now to fix the issue but I guess they will reappear at some point in time. I've only seen plantation shutters in home where it is more of a cohesive look done throughout the house--or at least the entire floor back or fornt of the home. So, while I do agree, that would be an excellent choice, I would keep in mind what I wanted to do with the other rooms in making a final decision. For what it is worth, I have three children and have used 2" wood blinds in all of their room when they were young. What I did was to knot the cords together so that it would be impossible to coke or strangle on the cord. Most blind companies have made their products baby safe, so it that is a concern, I would keep that in mind. It is nice to have light control with young children in order to faciliate sleep. I think a layered look works well with the shutters or blinds paired with either stationary panels or valances for pattern and softness. I generally perfer panels over valances, though with young toddlers, valances may be a more practical choice so they are not tugging on the panels or getting them dirty with sticky fingers. So, my vote would probably be for valances as most likely, you will find yourself redoing the room 3-4 years from now when you phase out the crib and, valances would be easy to change at that time.

Oh my goodness - you are all amazing at this! I can't wait to stop by the paint store to pick up chips for all of your suggestions! Jeana these options are all fantastic, and the Kilim Beige might fit exactly what I've been imagining to add that richness compared to the BM Summer Harvest...But I will consider them all. I'll try to post actual pics on the weekend, and pics of the finished product when it is freshly painted. Roarah, you place is lovely! The gray would be very dramatic with my dark trim, but with white trim it is beautiful :)

Any way-. The bed wall is a sky blue wall with wide 6-7 inch white stripes. The other three walls are a creamy color that is three shades lighter than the beige carpeting. Basically, the similar tones of the three walls and the floor lessen the contrast and make the space feel larger. The room is accented with a dark blue dresser and the drapes hung to the ceiling are white with dark blue wavy trellis pattern. The bed is flanked by two white nightstands/ chests. White bedding with pale blue with white floral pillows and a navy accents pillow, and med blue and white wide striped sheet.

this is board and batten, which goes around the whole room. Similar in color to the one I described above.
