Unfinished Kitchen Pic
Comments (62)pluckymama and vicnsb, sorry I don't have any more pics as of today...but I promise to post more as soon I take some updated ones. downsy, the slab is actually 2cm so it wasn't a problem to transport. Of course, they brought in two 6 1/2' x 7' slabs for the island, so it was kind of a big ordeal due to size! But the edge is actually two layers of 2cm granite sandwiched together as a vertical lamination below the counter 2cm granite. Hope that's understandable...let me know if you need more clarification. :) Thanks, cosmonj...I'll definitely build this kitchen again in my next house! gailrolfe, I just saw and responded to your mosaic post...thanks for thinking of me! Funny that we designed our home with extra wide hallways/aisles thinking of our Cane Corso lifestyle...in our last house (a tract home), we felt quite squished in certain areas of the home because they do like to shadow me! karencon, thank you, this entire project is really like a dream to me! hostagrams, thanks for your kind words as well. That's the nice thing about jumping GW forums, matching people's exteriors to their interiors...fun!...See MoreDoes this hutch belong in our kitchen?
Comments (96)Thanks for the kind words, everyone! jlc712, could you translate for me: "I agree with corneal, headboard back" I think headboard is beadboard, but for the life of me I can't interpret "corneal". Help! : ) Those pics are great, Allison. The only thing is, I don't know how to choose which style I like best! The plan is for the mw to go in the island when DH builds it. Until then, this seems to be the most friendly place to keep it. I don't like the look of it here at all, DH said it's wrong too, LOL, but we must bide our time. I tried putting it on the inside corner of our kitchen between the sink and cooktop for a while, but we all hated how it interfered with the work space on the counter there. Hmmmm...good question on how I got DH to do this project so quickly, Funky-camper. Sometimes things don't happen like this, but I'm very grateful DH got to this project so soon. Interestingly, we were reading about Jesus washing the disciples' feet during our family Bible time on Friday after supper. DH challenged each of us, himself included, to find something that we could do to serve both the person sitting to the right and left of us at the table at some point during this weekend. He likened these opportunities to the footwashing. We would be looking for chances to serve each other in love. We are all going to share about what we did Monday night at supper. I sit on DH's right during supper, and I'm pretty sure this cabinet install was my "footwashing!" : )...See MoreIdeas on how to update kitchen without painting cabinets?
Comments (39)The window film is a static film and is completely removable. You could buy it this afternoon have it up by this evening and if you decided you did not like it, you could take it down it any point in time. It's the least of your worries. The island is just too small for the space and that's what looks odd and disproportionate. The very visible trash bin is just inappropriate for such a beautiful kitchen. Each of the other elements is quite pretty and I don't think I would mess with them. Since you're planning on redoing the countertop I would add onto the island (and have the add on portion include an enclosed the trash bin and a recycling bin too if you have that in your area). I am not sure why you are saying that the stove is too close to the refrigerator. They look pretty distant to me. What is the issue with their locations when you say "close"? If you are going to move that stove, I recommend that you post a layout of your floor plan and let some of the design mavens on the site offer their suggestions as to how they would rearrange the kitchen. If you start moving the cabinets around, will you have to redo the floor around them or was everything placed on top of the existing floor?...See MoreDoes the kitchen back splash need to be changed?
Comments (9)It seems that everything that is visible in the photo you posted is in warm tones except for the cool black/white/gray counter and the stainless refrigerator. So much else would have to change to make the counter work, not just the backsplash: furniture, wall color, floor, railings, artwork). It looks like the kitchen is open to the other spaces, so just changing backsplash and wall color might not be enough....See Morelucky998877
