Keurig or other one cup coffee maker?
Comments (5)I am sorry to hear about your brother's vision. Have you talked with the blind association? They came out and helped my parents set things up around their place. Also if your brother is a vet, some VA centers offer a vision program called VISOR. It is almost like a camp to learn how to manage low vision. They also gave my dad lots of helpful aids including a computer with a large screen and a reading device. The computer had software to massively enlarge the orint and read it. Back to coffee I just bought the nespresso virtuline(sp) for my husband for Christmas. You do have to order the pods on-line or from specialty shops. The pods are recycled- they give you a recycle bag. It does have a reservoir Can't tell you much more since we haven't used it other than samples at the store....See MoreDo you use K-Cups?
Comments (16)We have the Cuisinart (partnered with Keurig) and it takes the K cups. Ours has a very large water reservoir and a 3-year waranty, which are two of the reasons we got the Cuisinart. We love it! I buy the K cups at Bed, Bath & Beyond with a 20% off coupon or at Kohl's when they have a % off promotion. If you work the sales you can get the K cups for around 40 cents a cup. I won't pay regular price for them because they can be too expensive. I rarely buy them at the grocery store because they're too expensive even if they're on sale. I've used the "your choice" filter piece that comes with the unit, where you use your own coffee and it's okay but not as good as the K cups...somehow it loses something in the translation LOL. I like the Donut Shop coffee from the Coffee People for breakfast and the darker roasts like Newman's Own, Emeril's Big Easy Bold or Green Mountain French Roast when I want a little more kick. We have the Pumpkin Spice and Hazelnut for when we want a flavored coffee. We thought the Pumpkin Spice would be nice at Thanksgiving. I'm not familiar with the industrial makers. Did you buy it through a commercial restaurant distributor?...See MoreAnyone have Cuisinart Coffee on Demand 12 Cup Coffee Maker?
Comments (5)We have had one for almost two years. It is OK, but the tradeoff for a glass carafe is a bulky square of plastic. It takes up a lot of room in the dishwasher. My husband insists on using the gold tone filter, which just means another thing to clean - I prefer the ease of throwing out a paper filter. We have noticed that the coffee is drinkable right as you pour a cup. That seems like a good thing, but it means that the holding temp is kind of low. Hence this Christmas present to the husband: Here is a link that might be useful: Coffee Cup Warmer...See MoreFrou frou coffee
Comments (27)I also like my coffee black, cynic, and don't even know how to use Ashley's k-cup coffee maker, she wants all that flavored stuff. I do like the local Biggby Coffee breakfast blend, but have started just buying beans and roasting my own coffee as I don't like Folgers or Maxwell House or Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts. I have a percolator, but really like the Chemex best. I will plead guilty to a caramel mocha about twice a year, when I want something sweet and thick. I'm not an ice cream fan, particularly, so I get that when others are getting shakes or sundaes. No liquor as I detest the stuff in any amount, and no cold coffee. Like cynic, I want it hot and I want it black. Elery does like iced coffee in the summer, though, so I make some cold brew for him sometimes. Thanks for the directions, Donna. My girls and my mother? They'll put half a cup of flavored cream and half a cup of coffee. Fine with me, I even buy the creamer, LOL. My mother's favorite is raspberry/white chocolate, and I stock up when I find it so she can get her "fix". Other times she drinks her coffee black, you just never know what her mood is going to be. LindaC, a local coffee company used to have a cinnamon flavored coffee and I loved it. Now it tastes different, so they probably "cheaped" it in some way. Putting a spoonful of cinnamon in my coffee pot is OK and did not mess up the filter, but doesn't taste right either. It wasn't sweet, but it wasn't astringent. Or maybe my taste buds have just changed... Annie...See MoreAnnie Deighnaugh
