Mixing metal finishes-will this work in my space?
Comments (6)Please excuse the elementary way I have posted the links. Still new and trying to figure out how to upload pics! over stairs: http://www.arhaus.com/chandeliers/barclay/ over dormer: http://www.lightingdirect.com/meyda-tiffany-21211-transitional-down-lighting-pendant-from-the-moravian-stars-collection/p43300 over sink: http://www.zgallerie.com/p-10315-eclipse-chandelier.aspx I am worried this is too many styles/finishes, but love each in it's spot. I generally stay within the same metals and woods in my decor so for me this would be a risk! At any given location you can only see 2 of the fixtures at the same time. For example kitchen orb and stair's wood or dormer's star and stair's wood. I do not have photos yet sorry, but hope you get the general idea....See MoreMixing metals in a small space
Comments (6)Only because of a light fixture I found comes in satin nickel and dark bronze . I’m actually thinking the dark bronze would look better . The light fixture is a pendant , but with 2 lights that are about 30” apart and sort of frame the mirror. It was so hard to find a pendant with 2 lights like this , most are single or 3+ lights. This was my inspiration .......See MoreAnother "mixed metal" thread - pendants and pulls
Comments (9)Thank you to everyone! @nicoletouk, the Olde Brick website is great. They don't come up for me on the general searches - obviously I'm not searching right. This thread has really got me evaluating my options. I'm now strongly leaning toward doing a different metal theme for the island. Here's my reasoning: It already has a different cabinet color and countertop from the perimeter. Some on this forum say that's a no-no - too busy - but I think of it as a "setting apart." The island is a transition from the kitchen to the living room - there's no wall between them. The far side of the island is our seating and "office" space, as there is a shelf under the island for our devices. The end near the oven is dedicated to baking only - all the food prep is flowing along the perimeter. And the other short end, near the TV room - AKA the Man Cave - is for DH to do the refrigerator/microwave two-step! So really the island is functioning as more than just another set of cabinets with counter over it. It's truly going to be the center of the great space we've created. I've just ordered some sample pulls in different metals. I really do think a light-colored brass might look good with the warmth of the wood cabinets. But I've got polished and brushed nickel coming too. Stopped short of chrome, as nothing in there is quite that "shiny". Wish me luck!...See MoreHelp with mixing bathroom metals
Comments (2)there is not absolute rule. this is mine. The shower faucets are the same matte black as the sink faucets. I did really gold looking knobs on this RH vanity so I could tie in the gold mirrors and sconces. I have 6 diff type of tile in this bathroom (black and white, and marble) I accented w/cobalt blue in the window glass and the sliding doors to the water closet. I can do any of those 4 colors in the towels (gray too) If you want to see the entire space, click on my name and go to master bath redo. In my kitchen, I also did black/gold. I dont' care for SS. (I also have a coffee bar w/black/white cement tiles and walnut shelves off to the left of this picture) If you're doing a powder room, you can go a bit bolder and do whatever you like. I don't have a clue what your style is or what you want things to look like. The best way to start is with some inspriation photos that match your ideals and style. Then you want to figure out what you flooring material is going to be. My bathroom took me months and months to get all my selections chosen. (my problem is that I like too many diff things and know far too much tile!)...See Moregirl_wonder
