Help Redesigning this bathroom
Comments (24)Thanks Pal. I apologize, I've had a hard time getting it right. Here is another one that I was already working on this morning that hopefully is more correct. In this one, i decided to try giving up on the 6' wide closet and keeping as many existing dimensions and plumbing as possible. So the these closet walls represent the existing walls if you just extend wall on the right side of the toilet to meet the closet on the top right. Move the vanity to the existing shower area and take down the left-hand wall of the old shower, which leaves 5" more for the vanity. Move the shower to the current left-hand closet. This requires moving the drain from bathtub area to shower and figuring out whether to leave water on the right-hand side of the new shower with a solid wall, or run water for shower on the left hand side of the new shower, leaving two glass walls. Still a lot less plumbing to do than before...See MoreBathroom redesign - urgent!
Comments (25)Sorry, Cotton, I was gone most of the day yesterday, & I'm having rotten wood replaced on the house exterior today. Busy morning. I'm wondering about a more espresso colored "wood" tile? The one pictured is feeling too orangey to me. I think (just my opinion) that limiting colors with a look this clean & simple but elegant, is the way to go. I'd do a tile that is as close as possible to the vanity, then use light area rugs, maybe in your wall color, or white rugs with wonderful, luxurious texture. Elements on the floor in your cool metals, such as your trash can or towel stand, etc., will also provide contrast & interest. The way I envision it: Wall color, marble, espresso. Not wall color, espresso vanity, mahogany floor, marble. (Fwiw!) Too many different colors & elements will interrupt the flow, imo. (Others will surely differ on this!) This is a very restrained look you are creating. My take on it is to edit the superfluous....See MoreNeed help with master bedroom/bathroom redesign
Comments (7)@Josie23 Thanks for pointing that out. I forgot to put a sink in the powder room but of course it will have a sink. I was mainly focusing on the master area. The powder room will be about 7.5 feet long x 3.5 feet wide which should be plenty of room for both a toilet and a sink. I read that the minimum area for a powder room is 11 square feet but this will be much larger than that. I have seen some pretty small powder rooms for sure....See MoreDesigning a master bathroom with separate walk-in closets
Comments (53)Work on that reading comprehension. Here is a recap of everything you've contributed to this thread... - How do you plan on keeping humidity out of the clothes closet - I have seen people smoking a cigarette while filling their car's gas tank with no problem, - I would think every one knows smoking while pumping gas is not recommended, - I have had clients that have walked through the master bathroom in stocking feet to get something from the master closet and have to also retrieve a dry pair of socks to put on in the bedroom because they stepped in the water unintentionally left on the bathroom floor. - You should get out more. - Moisture and odor are always potential issues, even in my sheltered little life. - Do you want me to teach you to read or do you want me to repeat what has been written? The answer to your very first question was quite obvious, even to a layman, let alone an experienced "professional" such as yourself. The "plan to keep humidity out of the clothes" is three-fold...1) An exhaust fan that extracts moist air from the bathroom, 2) Clothes separated from the bathroom with solid walls/doors, 3) Locating closet ~15 ft from the shower. None of your responses make it clear why you are so fixated on this particular issue in virtually EVERY thread you post in....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
