First Citrus of the Season = Primosole Mandarin
Comments (15)Could very well be, Evan. I know this person or nursery has been in the industry for decades, according to Clausen's, and sold off a lot of their budded stock since they were not planning on going under screen to continue to propagate their own citrus. You should check with them to see if they still have any Primosoles hanging around, and pick on up. I think it is really our answer to a satsuma, which for me, are not their best here in my growing conditions. Many of the smaller wholesale citrus growers have been summarily put out of business due to those new growing restrictions CA that were put into place last year. All propagation must be conducted under screen. Clausen's is one of those growers. They are the grower that started the Weikiwa out here in California. They acutally used to grow them commercially, then switched to propagating citrus on a wholesale basis, and allow us regular old folks to come in and buy at retail too. They are very, very nice people. They just don't have the investment funds to drop a million or two for a screen house, as well as no level land to do so. We have a lot of citrus history in our area, don't we? Patty S. This post was edited by hoosierquilt on Tue, Dec 2, 14 at 11:44...See MoreList your citrus collection here
Comments (57)Bought one of those cocktail trees from Hirts a few months back. It was impulsive as they strike me as a little "cutesy" and not serious trees. The lemon and lImequat's roots are intertwined and no way to separate. Lemon looked sickly and yellow leafed on arrival, but the limequat fine. The lemon has dropped some leaves but just noticed a few bursts of green on the branches. Someday 10 years from now want to be drinking gin and tonics and whiskey sours even though I don't imbibe- yet....See MoreJanuary Pictures - Let’s See ‘Em!
Comments (85)Kelley - I think if my little valencia every produces I will try to grow from seed just to see what happens. Every January I setup my seeds, heat mat and grow lights in our kitchen to start all my plants for spring. I will add that to it if it every happens! MyerMike - thanks! I have been on here posting the pics since about 2016 when my poor lisbon and bearrs lime were sunburnt when i first put them in the ground. It was my first time planting a tree(we had just got the house) and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with them and I just didn't want them to die. I'd killed plenty of trees previously on a patio that was in full sun. Even my local nursery gave me BAD advice. I couldn't believe it. The good folks here have helped me get my trees thriving. I've since added a few more trees(and I want to buy more every year). I'm so thankful for this forum and all of you! Helped me help my trees. Nules - those lemons and limes are so beautiful! What do you do with them all? I hope to one day have a lime crop like that!!...See MoreGot what I paid for from Fast Growing Tees
Comments (52)Thank you Nancy and Laura . Funny thing I've read so many times that Moro is the least favorite for taste of the Blood oranges , if it's the least I can only imagine what the best variety taste like . I have a Valencia and the Moro is just as sweet with just a little bit of tart perfect combination. Nancy now I know why your so hooked on citrus your home in Corona must have been paradise I can only imagine all those beautiful scents . My parents had a condo just outside Tampa and there was an orange grove not far from the condo , in March the scent coming from the grove was incredible that's how I became hooked . Nancy isn't always the case bump your flight up to the 5th lol. Brian...See MoreRelated Professionals
