Help! My unusual backsplash dilemna ...
Comments (23)No I wouldn't do that area by the fridge - I think a little chunk of tile in there is functionally unnecessary and it also visually isolated from the other counter area by the fridge and tall pantry. I like the look of just doing the "back" splash but you really need to stick to the back (My Mom did hers this way: This approach doesn't make sense for your layout though (unless you do beside the stove in a different material) She didn't do by the phone (one, because we only had a field tile) as it just wasn't necessary (in her case it becomes this little patch of tile - in yours at least you have some of the tile on the same wall - though visually still pretty far away). would at least set the tile everywhere else and then make my decision about which I thought worked better (it isn't like you will be wasting so much tile if you decide not to do it)...See MoreNavy Kitchen - Backsplash help please!
Comments (18)Thank you for all of the comments. I totally get what you are saying regarding the light. It's not ideal, but the contractor is pushing for tile selections to be completed prior to even having drywall up! At this point, I'm just hoping to get a better idea as to whether we can go white for the backsplash at all, or if we need to go with a "neutral off white". Or should we be looking for a neutral tile that matches the countertop in color and shade? The tile store person said that if we go with a grout similar toned to the counter, it would help pull in a white tile. Out of all the grouts they had, the warm gray with the closest in tone to the counter top, but it still isn't perfect. It's a bit purple toned. We knew going into this that the counter would be difficult to get a backsplash for, but we love the stone. It is extremely expensive, thus cost prohibitive to use as a backsplash. To me, the taupe 2x8 (which is actually 2x10 - whoops!) looks the best of the options, as it isn't stark white but it appears white in person. I feel like the warm gray would give a considerably darker feel to the kitchen, whereas I want it to feel light and bright. Is it best to try to "match" the countertop? Or is it better to go with a complimentary shade with similar undertones?...See MorePlease help identify kitchen backsplash tile

Comments (7)Someone else just posted a completed remodel with that same last tile I think. It looks really cool if you have a big enough wall space for it! https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6201378/the-remodel-that-took-a-year...See Morekelseypj1
