We are starting a master bath remodel soon-- likely will have subway tile, mosaic w/mixed glass, ceramic, stone components, and trim pieces--- can we use the same grout for all types of tile? Ordered sample of the mosaic from company that doesn't have local distributer and he recommened grount that has glass beads in it for the bling effect-- can't remember name==but said it really only worked with glass tiles/elements so a ceramic/porceline subway would not really benefit-- I just want the same color throughout-- one that doesn't turn and doesn't mildew--we are in coastal FL and humid is our life... Not sure who will be doing the tile work so can't talk to the installer yet for his recommendations/product experience

Our bath remodel was completed in October. We didn't use epoxy grout. I was very concerned about mildew and the contractor recommended the Tile Doctor Shield System. It's a 3-step system that you apply once a year and then use the "maintain" product once a month. He said we wouldn't have to clean the shower. The products are applied very quickly with little effort; the monthly maintenance application takes about 10 min. No mildew so far and I haven't had to clean the shower. (I am not affiliated with Tile Doctor in any way.) I agree with the comment about ventilation. We use a squeegee and towel to dry the shower after each use including the floor. Also we leave the shower door open and turn on the ceiling fan for a while to dry everything off really well.

I'm a little confused. Your tile guy is worried about the grout staining the countertop? Just cover up the counter with plastic + paper, cardboard, a drop cloth, whatever. I actually covered out counters for our tile guy but I don't think he actually got anything on them.
