Does this piece of art work in my room (w/pics)?
Comments (55)I love the first and last stripe! I like the way the line draws your eye up and the last one is simple enough to not compete with the rug or the armoire. the one I picked was tough; there were so many that had your colors in them at Horchow! That one seemed to go more with your rug (which looked red, gold and brown on my monitor!)because it didn't have any green, but in the end I was thinking it had a subtlety that might work. having all of the colors represented is probably your best bet, though- it definitely brings your eye all the way around the room in a nice way. IMHO, you can't make your walls look too tall. Drawing the eye up is almost always a great thing. And I think some height will balance out the weight of the armoire as well. but only you can see how things look in person! clearly you have great taste!...See MoreDining Room Light- does it work
Comments (42)Wow, thanks for all the photoshopping and the suggestions. OB2B- I really like the Troy Brooklyn, it is very similar to the adjacent kitchen light, which is the Troy Toledo, perhaps too similar. I also think I might like to get away from visible bulbs, if possible. Something I love about the Brooklyn, is the rope! Nosoccermom: I do love the industrial lights, but my family is a bit tired of my industrial edge. My 14 yo ds even commented on it- lol. I think I will go for the drum light, I love the way the arcs in the metal fixture, tie in to the arc in the metal trestle base of the table. I have been looking at it a long time and it is the one my DH and DS's consistently vote for. here goes nothing, pictures when it is up !...See MoreDoes this area rug work for my room or not?
Comments (22)I am totally willing to go 6x9, that particular rug is from West Elm and like I said it’s already my third rug. I would be happy to take any suggestions. I want to be under $500. I am in NYC so I have to do everything online. Also as I had mentioned, the pic is misleading b/c it is a wide angle iPhone pic so everything looks squeezed in. Please believe when I say 9ft width is the widest I can go. Thanks everyone for your help. Please list any suggestions here. I think some navy blue in the rug could work....See Morewhat does my dining room need?
Comments (156)I am very picky about faux plant material. I have a couple wholesale places here that are my first stops. They carry botanically correct pieces. You can check your area for this type source. Many sell retail too. Occasionally, I use Hobby Lobby. Some are pretty good. Just have to be careful of what you pick. For low maintenance, do vases that are pottery. Glass shows dust too much. What is height and width of panel above mantel?...See Morenjmomma
