Orchids that stay small - under 12' or so... Suggestions?
Comments (14)Love the Den. laevifolium but it might not like Florida. My vote goes for the various clones of Onc. Twinkle. A well grown plant is a delight, compact with lots of flowers. How come people keep calling Sharry Baby, Sherry Baby? Who started this nonsense. Talking about Onc. Sharry Baby here is a poor photo of one in an orchid display. It certainly gives an idea of how big an in-flower plant can be. The only reason i'm getting rid of mine is that an in-spike plant is just to tall to take to an orchid meeting in a compact car. a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wsos/2482742618/" title="Strathfield Plaza Show 2008 by wsos, on Flickr">...See MorePlease show me the space under your 30 inch shaw sink
Comments (12)The cabinet is a standard height. That is, the sink is undermounted beneath the counter, and the final counter height is standard. The cabinet is about 32" wide. I can't say exactly, because the entire wall of cabinetry was custom made in the vintage style where it is all one long unit. The cabinets are not separate, and the side of the sink cabinet is also the side of the cabinet next to it. The installation was all very stressful for me because the "hole" where the sink would fit had to be pretty darn close to the correct height in order to make the counter the right height. Now, since my cabinets are painted, I did have some wiggle room. We needed to shim the sink to make it exactly the right height and levelness. The gaps all around the sink were covered with bondo (by me), and then painted. So the sink is perfectly snuggled in now. But if I had wood cabinets, my cabinetmaker would NOT have had the skill to do a beautiful job. Pictures, you say? You might be sorry you asked! Get ready for a bunch! I hope they help. The long cabinet unit: The sink "cabinet" Playing around with how to position the sink (shims in place) Again, experimenting with position and where the counter will end up: Bondo to cover the cracks More bondo (bottom edge) Sink with adjacent units (dishwasher is hidden on the right side-cabinetmaker hated making that panel for me with the fake drawer, but I think it's pretty awesome!! ) In the process of painting: Teeny, weeny kitchen, still in progress :-) francy...See MoreAre 12x15 Koehler #2210 under mount sinks too small?
Comments (7)Cobblestone7, we don't find the sinks annoying in any way. Neither my DH or I wash our faces by splashing water on them with our hands which is apparently why some people like larger sinks. We don't find ourselves having issues with lots of splashing. If have a wall on each side of your vanity, I would think you would definitely like an extra inch or 2 of space next to the walls. Also there may be codes for the amount of space needed between the sinks and from the center of the sinks to the walls. That might be the determining factor for your sink choice. You asked asked about hardware. I assume you mean the faucet. We had intended to use a regular wide spread faucet with separate hot and cold handles but our plumber mistakenly told the granite guys that we were doing a 4 inch center set faucet and we didn't catch that mistake when the fabricator sent us the layout for our approval. So the 3 holes were drilled wrong. We dislike center set faucets so we opted for the single hole/single lever one in the picture. We had to use the estucheon plate to cover the two other holes. So the faucet is just a regular one for a regular size sink. It is Kohler's Forte faucet. I actually have the same faucets in my hall bath which has bigger sinks. My son and daughter both used the Forte faucet in their homes but the just had a single hole so didnt use the estucheon plate. Good luck in your decision....See MoreKohler Whitehaven Hayridge Under Mount Sink
Comments (2)https://www.houzz.com/discussions/hairline-cracks-in-kohler-cast-iron-kitchen-sink-dsvw-vd~2692381 Hmmm. I was all set to get a Kohler cast iron undermount apron kitchen sink. My current drop in single bowl Kohler cast iron is 25+ years old and has no cracks, grazing, whatever you may call it. On the other hand, I have a much newer bathroom Kohler Memoirs pedestal sink, which is full of small grazing/crackling lines. (If you google, I'm not the only one.) Has Kohler quality gone down?...See Morechispa
