Comments (23)I am so sorry that this has happened to you! I am a firm believer in the egg rooting method. A very good friend of mine gave me a Scott Pratt and with the raw egg it rooted in a few weeks! I still use raw eggs even after the cuttings have rooted but thankfully, i (knock on wood), have never had critters digging the eggs out of the pit. My only complaint, is that I have had raw eggs explode in my pots indoors! TALK ABOUT PUTRID!!!! I wish you the best of luck, and hopefully the darn critters will leave your plumeria ALONE! Comments (27)I would go with the wood look tile. Go to several tile distributors and look. Some look fake and terrible and others look beautiful. I had my heart set on http://www.mediterranea-usa.com/havana.html The local distributor had it for $3.89 per sq foot on sale (half the usual price) They can lay it with a very minimal grout line since its high quality tile and that also makes it look like a wood floor. However - when we ripped up the carpet to explore why our tile was cracking in the foyer - we found a big crack right down the middle of the floor. There were ways to fix the crack - but since the house is only 5 years old we worried that its still settling in the soft Florida sand... so we are going with a floating laminate floor. Wilsonart is the best quality I could find. Its going down on Monday. Don't worry too much about pee, poop, puke in the grout lines. My old house was all tile, and while I hate grout lines with a passion - they never held any odors. Go with a dark grout - cause no matter how many times you seal it - it will still get dirty - believe me - I've done it. Best cleaner I've found for grout lines is the magic eraser but basically I've given up and live with dark grout lines. Oh yea - and the dogs will always have accidents on your carpets and throw rugs - they seem to avoid the tile for messes :)...See MoreHave you received any 'In the dog house' gifts from your husband?
Comments (54)DH is the last minute shopper, and spends the season grumbling about the lost meaning of Christmas. So shopping is pitifully painful for him. He absolutely abhors it, and wants for nothing from anyone either. ( I know, Bah-Hum-bug) One year, he actually beamed as I was opening the 2 gifts he chose for me! I was so excited for his excitement for me, if that makes sense!!! All the family was gathered around because they all know that my poor DH just is NOT the shopping kinda guy. All eyes were on me as I opened the first gift. It was a seer-sucker bathrobe. That's not so bad, as we are in Florida and I run hot anyway, so don't need a warm, plush, heavy robe. But when I tried it on, something wasn't quite right. It took a few minutes for me to realize...this is a MAN's robe!!! No darts to accommodate the breasts, and no curve at the waist. The belt was hung at my butt-level!!! His response: "Well, the ladies robes were too cutesy-wootsie for you" (I beg your pardon?) Second gift, same Christmas! Perfume, all wrapped in the store paper.... Halston....."Por Homme" "I told them to wrap up the Halston...I thought it was for girls!" (Thanks, I was feeling pretty macho at this festive time of year.) Nevertheless, the greatest occurrence of that precise moment, was my dear brother, who howled with laughter at DH's foibles! We still look back and laugh at that one!!!! And understandably, after that catastrophic embarrassment, DH has reverted back to being bah-hum-bug...he just can't get it right! Poor thing! (I buy my own stuff and say Santa delivered it for me!)...See MoreDog Insurance, yes or No????
Comments (21)I'm with Lukki, We learned the hard way almost 10 years ago with my daughter's dog who had lymphoma. Without insurance, it cost my daughter over $10000. After that we made sure to get insurance for our dogs. We selected Trupanion, which is a catastrophic insurance; it doesn't pay for exams or shots or other routine visits. Your premium depends on the age of your pet and your chosen deductible. You pay your vet, Trupanion reimburses you 90% of allowable expenses. They have good coverage and are quick to pay. Today veterinary medicine is like human medicine. They have MRIs, ultrasounds, CAT scans, X-rays, stem cell procedures, chemo, surgery and rehab-state of the art. Our dogs have made use of the insurance. Katie had diabetes and surgery, Spencer had a splenectomy, and years later, surgery and chemo. It's great not to have to worry about being able to pay for any recommended procedures. i had a discussion with someone who just bought a pup. They refuse to get insurance, with the typical line, "I would never put my dog through that (chemo)", so I asked, what happens if your young dog breaks a leg or tears his ACL? Are you going to shoot it instead of buying insurance? No response, of course. just recently on my local Facebook pet page, 2 pet owners were faced with young dogs with unexpected situations. One came home to find that her year and 1/2 old dog was unable to walk. She had to put her dog to sleep after determining that the issue was worse than initially thought. For less than a week in hospital and tests she had started a gofundme page. Another just found her 6 year old dog has widespread cancer after exploratory surgery. It's wonderful if you have the foresight and determination to self fund, but realistally there are those who could never do it. In my conversation with the person with the new pup, I know these people could never self fund. If they have a penny in their pocket, they'll spend 2 on a vacation or dinner. This is the long way of saying...yes to pet insurance....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
