Meyer Lemon Tree attracting spiders
Comments (7)Spiders are part of what you'd normally expect to see in and around your citrus trees, winstella. Spiders are beneficials, and will eat flying insects and other bugs that happen by them or get caught in their webs, many of which may NOT be beneficial to your trees and plants (and other spiders, as hoovb has mentioned). Spider mites, are not spiders. They are mites, and they will usually show up in the late summer, during our hottest and driest times, and again, as hoovb has mentioned, a good spraying with water all over the canopy a couple of times usually takes care of things. I wouldn't expect to see them on my trees this time of year unless your yard is extremely dry, and your trees/plants are stressed. Have no idea if your spider is poisonous unless you can snap a pic of it, and our resident bug expert, Rhizo, can take a look at it. Patty S....See MoreSmall yellow fly on meyer lemon
Comments (9)Very good, Tcoll! Small world, lol! In reading up about the Hoverfly, you can help bring these great beneficials to your yard by planting these plants: alyssum, Iberis umbellata, statice, buckwheat, chamomile, parsley, and yarrow. I have a huge amount of staticein my yard, mainly up on my front slope where the majority of my citrus are, which is where I've seen this fly. I have also seen this fly in my backyard, hovering around my stone fruit flowers. Patty S....See MoreMeyer lemon and store bought soil mixes

Comments (25)Suggestion: replace the pot with "fabric pot" or something like that made from a fabric bag. It will properly aerate the soil, no matter what soil you use. Moving to the new pot can be done when current soil is almost dry, to be easier to remove from pot and to keep soil compact around roots; also, the transplant shock will be smaller because roots have almost nothing to do when soil humidity is absent. Airpots are also good, until pot is found by fungus gnats. From that moment, the airpot will act as a fungus gnats nursery, with no way of getting rid of them. From me: a big NO for ceramic or classic plastic pot. Also an other big NO for the soiless mixes to be used on citrus - it's just hydroponics for trees :( ......See MoreGrace Romito
