Help with choosing new interior window color please!
Comments (3)@ebennet, surely you made a decision by now (and I liked both the painted and the stained trim so I don't think you could have gone wrong with either), but it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has taped pieces of paper (in my case, painted posterboard) onto stained trim to simulate "how it would look painted."...See MoreHelp choosing Benjamin Moore paint colors for new home
Comments (12)@Mary Elizabeth @celerygirl @cawaps For those curious, after all the deliberation we ended up going with White Dove for the whole floor (except bedrooms / office, and kitchen backsplash area, which we havent decided on yet). Overall we really like it. One thing we might change is the window wall and fireplace wall in the north facing dining room with the skylight. I think the color shows a bit too cool on that wall due to the north facing light and lack of light hitting those walls. We may go with something like Revere Pewter (since it is warm without too much yellow); possibly Grey Owl although that may be a tiny bit too cool; or October Mist like @celerygirl suggested (do you still like October Mist for those walls now that you see white dove in here? We may also consider re-doing the living room wall that faces the kitchen, also Revere Pewter or soemthing. But overall we really like the White Dove all around. We ended up with Hale Navy for both sides of our front door and i think that turned out great too. Didnt get great pics of that but i think it works well (house exterior is a lightish neutral grey) These are from around 6pm And these around 3:30 Any thoughts on paint color for the fireplace? If we go with Revere pewter on the fireplace and window wall, i think we would need ot keep fireplace light, even maybe white dove. But if we keep the wall White Dove, should we do Revere Pewter fireplace? I’ll try to get some more pics today around midday with more natural light too....See MoreHelp me choose a whole house paint color for new build!! Please!
Comments (60)Hi Beth. Sigh... Our 1979 house had white primer on all interior walls when we bought it in 1998. So that's 19 years with the original owners not painting it. I had forgotten this more that, a couple years after we bought it, we had all the downstairs painted an off-white, still not realizing that was the first finish coat. I realized it when I was washing walls upstairs after finishing the downstairs. Then we went through some years thinking we would move. Now we have plans to gut the upstairs which will never see more than primer I guess....See MoreI hate my couch! please help me choose a new one!
Comments (33)Just trying to see what options for making everybody happy might be. I was thinking that if whole family doesn't want to be cuddling on the sofa all the time it's possible to get one loveseat recliner to make sure husband gets his wish (and at least some people can sit right near him) plus get a pair of oversized swivel lounge chairs for fun comfy places to watch TV or talk. It can be simpler to make a nice looking arrangment with loveseats and chairs, even if they are quite large. I think you have the space but you need to measure. Those big round swivel chairs can be bought with crescent shaped ottomans. This one happens to be from Amazon It's really a risk buying sofas when it comes to comfort, especially if you're not made of money. One of the reasons I prefer sitting in sofas or chairs with wide ottomans to sitting in recliners is that there are more ways to make adjustments to where your legs and back are -- high, low, long, short, sideways -- and add pillows behind you for back support. Recliners aren't very flexible and I find them a nuisance to get up from in a hurry....See MoreDesign Interior South
