Can custom plantations not be made to fit?

Thank you both for your replies. I am considering a traverse with curtains for the extra privacy and I like the aesthetic. I don’t think I would like the visual of a giant plantation shutter on this window—it’s just too big!
I’m thinking wood blinds and the curtains—double traverse sheer and panels.

Twosit—I like your blue rugs. This living room is designed for my mom who is aging in place, so she can’t have any area rugs. But she would love that vibrant blue!

That's a beautiful window. I would choose the least obtrusive treatment that worked, probably cellular shades or blackout Romans.

Some woven woods in the same tone as the floors would be lovely with the wall color and navy upholstery.

Beautiful windows. With a good view, such as a garden patio, you want to make sure you cover as little window glass as possible.

You could use drape/curtain panels to cover only the left and right frame ; however, that doesn't give you light control or privacy.

If you don't want the top the tops of blinds or shades over each individual window to show (I wouldn't) you could hide the top with a wood cornice above the windows.

Something else to consider besides any kinds of curtains or drapes could be vertical blinds -- they do come in wood, faux wood, and fabric if vinyl doesn't suit your taste.

These are all wonderful suggestions. Beverly, that would be a lovely layout but the opposite wall is a fireplace with the tv above it. I can’t have anything on the floors, my mother has a walker and a cane and cannot have any tripping hazards. She is aging wonderfully in place! The two chairs you see are swivel recliners so she an our family can be comfortable and see the TV while visiting. But your layout is beautiful.

I am liking Seajay's woven woods. But I'd want to make sure the material compliments the flooring. If you do use curtains, PLEASE make sure they are wide enough to completely expose the window when they are open. And don't use a valance that hides the view. You have a garden view and a nice bank of windows...take full advantage of them. I am not for vertical blinds in this situation.

Since the layout needs to be like yours, how about bringing the sofa out about 2-3’ to have a walkway behind it so it is closer to the two chairs to create a cozier feeling. And the end table between the sofa a chair for a resting place for a beverage. I would also put drapes on either end of the window in addition to the woven woods which I left out of my comment above.

I’ve tried moving the couch. But, without an area rug to ground it—it moves. The counter provides stability. So again, I want nothing to be unstable for my mom. Sometimes function must be prioritized over aesthetics.

Beautiful room! I think wood blinds in a complementary color is a great look and provides privacy. Then I would add an upholstered wood cornice which would extend up to about 2" from the ceiling. I would make it in the same fabric as the chairs. This makes the room look larger with the ceilings looking higher, while adding a warm and "finished" look to the room.

Whatever you decide on the furniture arrangement, you may want to consider something like these on all the legs of chairs and sofa to be on the safe side.

Thank you Seajay. The chairs are swivels so they have a significant ring on the bottom that anchors it but I will look into the rubber stoppers for other pieces of furniture.

I realized I never updated this request. Many thanks to all of those who responded. My mother is pleased that she is able to enjoy the view, let some light in and maintain her privacy with the drapes fully closed.
