Miele W1 - possible to ignore Twindos warning?
Comments (79)That could certainly be a concern for Miele to have. However, there are ways to reduce their liability due to user error. Labeling twin dos replacement cartridges to say No Chlorine Bleach! and including that in explanations in the manual should be sufficient. I understand that the US is a sue-happy society mostly because unless someone sues, our agencies that are supposed to set standards do little. Instead of being more transparent, Miele does not clearly note on their website that US machines will not take the refillable cartridges. They market the refillable cartridges without a not saying they will not work only in US machines. There is no indication that the seemingly identical model will not do what it does in the EU. We are a Miele family. My in-laws Miele dishwasher chugged along for nearly 30 years. These are not my first Miele appliances. I am simply unimpressed with how they are choosing to handle the twin dos issue for US machines....See MoreOld miele LiGi owner looking at new W1/T1
Comments (19)I got my w1/t1 set in January to replace an old top-loader. I didn't get the TwinDos version. Our clothes have never been cleaner. The whites are whiter, stains I thought were permanent have faded or disappeared. I'm very happy with these machines. Since the coronavirus outbreak in my hotspot city, I've been selecting the "pre-wash" and "extra rinse" options on every load, pushing the cycle time up to 2.5 hrs. The heat pump dryer is excellent - I adjusted it to our soft water and it dries clothes quickly. A load of towels and bathmats dry in under an hour....See MoreMiele W1 Users - TwinDos Ultraphase Sensitive?
Comments (20)Refill the cartridge with detergent of your choice. We use Tide PurClean, but any detergent that isnt super thick in viscosity (it should be in the runny side) will work fine. Miele really hiked the prices of the TwinDos detergent. It is unsurprising that it isnt selling all that well in North America. Tide is a ”premium” detergent with a premium price, but its 1/2 to 1/3 what the Miele TwinDos detergent costs....See MoreMiele W1/T1 Washer Dryer vs Traditional Maytag
Comments (24)Miele is farming some service out to local servicers. I spoke with thr professional sales reps and he said it is extremely hard to retain good servicemen. We had our dishwasher repaired under warranty once. It is a Miele Crystal. The mainboard failed. we had about 4000 hours on it in a couple years. The guy who fixed it was able to tear it down and called miele who walked him through the diagnostic steps. They then sent a main board. Tech came back two weeks later and installed. The delay was more the local shops fault. They only come to our area once a week. We could have had Miele come from chicago, but they charge mileage if uour more than 50 miles from their service center. we are 120 miles away. I wouldnt be too hung up about getting official Miele service. They have always taken care of us one way or another....See MoreC J
