Cute Idea Lucille! Ribbon rots in the sun pretty quickly, won't stretch. Burlap twine, not familiar with it....burlap is fragile. Regular macrame or fiber rush. I wove a chair seat once & have rush left over.

do you crochet? You could make little pouches to put your bottles in?

Depending on what you are trying to root hanging them in a sunlight window without the water portion being covered may be the wrong thing to do. Some roots are sensitive to light where it does not bother other plant roots. The actual name for the burlap cording is Jute.

Moni those are adorable but I do not crochet. However, I might buy macrame cording and find some instructions to make a tiny pared down version of a macrame plant hanger which seems like it would be more reliable than a ribbon or cord..

Copper wire would be very pretty with the clear glass and the green cuttings. If the Erlenmeyer flasks are what I think they are, I wouldn't trust any type of ribbon or twine to hang them.

On second thought, maybe you could run a thin bead of hot glue under the lip to lay the ribbon or twine in, to secure it?

I like the idea of using wire, especially copper wire, but spend a lot of time working with it, so I'm biased in that direction. If you have the time, patience and inclination to practice and get the hang of a wire netting technique, you could do something like this:

There is a bit of a learning curve, but once a person gets the hang of it, it's not a difficult technique to do. There are several tutorials on Youtube that would take you through it step by step.

If you don't want to do anything that elaborate, even wrapping or twisting some wire around the neck of the bottle would be a really secure attachment and one you wouldn't have to worry about breaking or slipping off.

You could use hose clamps. Clamp around the neck of the flask with ribbon hanging loops secured into the clamp. Pretty ribbon or burlap around the clamp. Grosgrain ribbon will be best for sturdy hanging loops.

I would definitely trust hose clamps to not let go, that is an interesting and outside-of-the-box idea.

This person used high test fishing line. It can withstand a giant tuna pulling on it lol. To make it more secure smear some E6000 glue on the neck then wrap the line around the neck several times and tie it tightly.

It is out of the box. I’ve done it to hang solar light wine bottles, so figured it would work just as well on a lipped flask. You can also use wire wound around the screw mechanism for the hanger instead of ribbon loops.

I do appreciate the ideas, I'm going to think them over. I like the idea of fishing line and hose clamps for security but I can always dress those up with ribbon.

I was going to suggest fishing line too. Depending on size and how its used it can be almost invisible support.And very strong.

Maybe something thin and rubbery under the hose clamps if the flasks are a bit thin, as they're not used to being hugged by metal bands - they might not appreciate being screwed.
