Why is 100% wool rug still shedding a yr later?
Comments (4)It is not the wool that is the reason for the shedding, but probaby because it is hand tufted. Does it have a lining? If it does, that means it is hand tufted. The hand knotted rugs will not shed like that but they usually are more expensive. When you turn them over you actually see the yarn going through the mesh base....See Moreshould I buy these chairs? If I should, what should I do to them?
Comments (21)I agree with all of you: they're definitely Hollywood Regency. And I should recharacterize my own style, which is probably better said to be "*in* transition" rather than transitional. (: I do like clean-lined pieces, and our DR set is very Mission; the adjacent LR combines Mission and Art Deco; and our bedroom, where these chairs would go, is your basic Recovering Graduate Student/Random Wedding Present room. So funky/eclectic would fit in just fine there. And there's just something about these chairs... The room is a long rectangle. The half without windows is for the bed (not a bed per se, but rather mattresses on a metal frame) and the dressers, which are mismatched yard sale finds. On the other side of the room, I'd like to create a sitting/reading area next to the windows, with a gorgeous view of the mountains (by far the nicest thing about the room!). We got a red and tan handloomed Peruvian folk-art rug for our wedding, and that's what we'll use to set off the seating area. Also on that side of the room, framing one window, are some slender dark walnut modern-styled bookcases. And then the part I'd like to replace: a heinously ugly loveseat that a friend gave us, also on that side of the room. I'd much rather find some reading chairs and an ottoman than a loveseat anyway; the room's not that big, and the loveseat makes it a pain to open and close the curtains and shades. I agree these chairs don't look too comfortable, so they're probably not my ideal reading chairs. But they'd be good for draping the bathrobe or pulling into the LR for extra seating. I love the idea of velvet, and maybe even the box-pleated skirt -- hadn't thought of that, cool idea, thank you! I agree that they're great in a pattern, but I don't want lots of patterns clashing in my bedroom, I don't think. What would you think of a tan velvet on the back and the bottom of the seat, and then the top, round seat cushion in something like this: Here is a link that might be useful: I'd use this pillow cover to reupholster the seat......See MoreHelp Me Dress My Dining Room Windows - Lots of Pics
Comments (22)Ok, so repainting the room is an option: that's your out! Or should I say "easy" solution? Repaint in a color more in keeping with the gorgeous rug (which is beautiful and valuable on many levels-honeymoon purchase being one of them!). Then your window treatments (panels-maybe) will be a much easier decision. I'm not loving the panel options mentioned above, which I think are nice, but a tad too informal for the direction you have taken with your room. Plus, they are very trendy, which again is not in keeping with your traditional style. You have heirloom quality pieces there! The rug and furniture should stay. Paint is cheap (compared to the investment in good quality furniture and the rug)! That's the way to make a significant impact without breaking the bank. Take a good look at the colors in the rug. On my monitor I see blue as the primary color, but monitors vary. Go to the paint store and bring some sample cards home, narrow it down and then go back and buy some paint samples and splotch away. In any case, have fun with this project!...See MoreHelp with staging the master bath
Comments (8)Lovely room. I would move that cute stool over to the side so that it looks more out of the way. I would add a pretty candle in some sort of holder on that top ledge above the shampoo type bottles. I would add a thick white bath mat (think expensive spa) in front of the vanity. Only put it down right before a showing and then put it away. I would get rid of the perfume bottles. They are super pretty, but lots of people are sensitive to perfume, and, tbh, it reads a little "old lady" to me and I'd be terrified of something breaking. Maybe you could put something more trendy? (You are trying to sell, right?) Maybe some rolled up white wash cloths, a few bath bombs, and a succulent? Could you find cool long skinny baskets to tuck the towels in? Something like this?...See MoreCLUBURB
