Comments (7)Broaching is the method that is commonly used to form sockets. A long time ago, bolts and nuts were square, not hexagon shaped. Even today, square nuts and square-headed bolts are used in certain applications. Therefore, Sears, Snap-on, Cornwell, Gray and many other tool manufacturers offer sockets in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 inch drive to fit square bolts and nuts. But they don't have just a single square hole broached into them, they have two squares or "double-square" and these sockets come in many sizes. I suggested quarter drive because I felt that the pipe handle you have may be able to accept the external dimension of the socket. If the socket fits the hole as well as the square but won't slide inside the handle, then just weld the socket to one end of the handle. When you want to open/close the valve, put the socket end in. When you want to raise the jack up, then put the other end in. Go online with one of the manufacturer's and do a search for "double-square sockets"....See MoreQuiet Quest for Scrabble Words

Comments (5)Morb1lee, I agree with hex2006 and it looks like you are taking corrective measures. First see if you can get the water temp down (either moving the light up or just put the tube against something conducive to heat vexing aka a metal table or cement floor). I would recommend removing the plants from the clear tube, if possible, maybe by spray paint or upgrading to another type of tubing. Secondly, I would suggest a root wash to take care of the current slim while correcting the problems. Normally watered down mixture H202 for an hour or buying an oxygenating solution. Also, could we get a pic or imgur of the setup? As a side note, pH up and down can be cause by a lot of things. Can you give some background on the pH problem?...See MoreHow is your COVID-19 reopening going?

In the mostly rural southern and southeastern counties that had only a few early cases, new cases seem to be on a slow increase. Vinton was the last to have no reported cases, then in the last weeks they've jumped to 16. That might reflect testing for someone's whole family, co-workers, a nursing home--I don't know the details--and I know that seems to be a small number compared to other areas. Kathsgrdn, I have been very impressed with KY's stats (as well as WV's). We have relatives in a KY county which borders the river, and one of my brothers works in WV, so I check their stats often. My father is ecstatic that the local Bob Evans is opening for inside dining tomorrow. I'm not so thrilled, since he is 83 and won't wear a mask or properly distance himself from others. ETA, here's our 21-day trend--unfortunately up almost 250 more cases than yesterday (484):...See MoreFun2BHere
