Kitchen progress pics (70ish% finished)
Comments (61)Hi Aries, Thanks for the compliment! I think I put the most thought and effort into the kitchen and baths. I'm building in southern NJ. My husband and I are the GCs and we both work full time so we're already 9 months in and should be finished up before a full year, I HOPE! I'd be glad to share some pictures of the rest of the house as soon as I get some of the debris and dust cleaned up. The DG plan we chose has smallish secondary bedrooms and baths. I wasn't too keen on that and had planned on expanding them during the framing but we ended up doing a walkout basement instead so we'll have some extra space to store toys. That was enough to get me to drop the whole bathroom expansion obsession. I also like the architectural style of the DG and FB plans. I beefed up the size of the exterior window trim on ours and it made a world of a difference. Seems to make more sense proportionally compared to the columns. I noticed a lot of discussion on the Home Building forum if you search for Don Gardner and Frank Betz, although I didn't see many pictures....See MoreKitchen progress pics (a 'little Redroze' kitchen!)
Comments (20)Wow, it looks fabulous! I can see why you chose all those redroze elements, they just look so good together - I can't imagine anything looking better (but then, I bet that granite does shine in any kitchen). You must be so happy! You beat me by 2 days - I made breakfast on Sunday, and I made dinner and served it in the new dining room on Sunday night. We *could* have been eating on 8/7, but friends had us over for dinner, and I still had a ton of painting and cleaning to do, so Saturday ended up being pizza. I didn't feel right about making a meal and not having anywhere to serve it, so it had to be the kitchen AND dining room ready. Here's a picture of us eating:...See MoreBacksplash and kitchen progress
Comments (23)Nice! The arabesque gives the area a little specialness without screaming about it and taking over the room. Is the island more like the color in today's pic? Navy-ish rather than bluebird?...See MoreKitchen progress before and not quite after
Comments (19)boxerpal - thank you so much! the island and shelves are reclaimed chestnut from Longleaf lumber. rantontoo - thanks so much. I just picked things I love - wasn't sure how any of it would work but I love it. thinkdesignlive - you were so helpful and patient - I can't thank you enough! Not sure if you realize I'm the one who had the funky ranch with the sunroom and we went back and forth a thousand times about where to put the kitchen...See MoreSueb20
