no-green: I like the combo of tropical fabrics w/ the wood walls and the tile floor. It's exactly like many of the beach houses we have rented over the years. Most of them had tile floors, cedar stip covered walls and tropical fabrics! JMHO, but here is what I think would work.... Find a larger rug to anchor the seating area. Have at least the front legs of all pieces sitting on the rug. Or eliminate the rug altogether. Change out the lampshades to either cream or white. My monitor shows your light fabric background as a light cream. Go for whatever the fabric really is. Find some botanical prints of either birds, florals or ferns and hang one behind the dinning table and a pair on the heater wall. The birds or florals could bring in the pink shades in the fabric. The ferns would be simple and classic. Could you make a cover for the heater when it is not in use? I'm thinking along the lines of old fashioned radiator covers that would have a solid top that could be used for additional display during the months the heater is not in use. I agree that a color wash on the dark bricks would be wonderful and play up the lightness of the space. Love the natural wood tones of the walls and I would never change them (think of the beach houses!). WT could be either light scarves draped over rods over the tops of the windows or very simple cotton or linnen type pannels hung on either side of the windows. I like the idea of the pannels to break up the horizontal lines of the wood walls. Have them hung wider than the windows to capture the view of your soon to be re-done yard! I like the simplicity of what you have now and think that just a few touches will make this room one you will love to spend more time in. It doesn't need to be made to look more like a decorated inside room... just needs to be tweaked just like you said!

here's a very good recipe for zucchini bread. I made 6 large muffins and 1 small loaf pan with this recipe. Ingredients 3 cups grated fresh zucchini about 4 zucchini 3 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking soda 2 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (I used china cassia) 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar 2 large eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt 3/4 cup butter (melted 30 seconds in microwave) 1 cup chopped pecans optional (I use sunflower seeds) Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease two 8x4-inch loaf pans. nonstick spray works well. Set aside. Place the grated zucchini in colander in the sink while you continue. Mix sugar, eggs, vanilla, salt, and butter in a large bowl. Add flour, baking soda, and cinnamon, and whisk in until just combined. Stir in grated zucchini until just incorporated. Add nuts, if using, and stir in until just combined. Divide batter between prepared loaf pans. Bake for 40-60 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.*** (25 min in my convection oven) Cool in pans for 10 minutes. Run a butter knife around the edges; remove zucchini bread onto wire racks. Dave

My thought is about the full bath near the dining room. Will that be used as the powder room when you have guests over, say for dinner? If so, it's location in such close proximity to the dining and kitchen area would be awkward for me. I have a friend who has a similar set-up to that and every time we are over for a dinner party, EVERYONE knows when someone goes into and out of the bathroom. And can hear everything going on while someone is in there. It's uncomfortable and awkward for everyone. I'd love to have the bathroom be where it was also accessible from the pool. Another friend has a bathroom that can be used from the house or from the pool and it's fabulous and very practical. Would it work for you to use some of the current office space to become the bathroom, then Bedroom 4 could be slightly bigger and serve as both office and guest bedroom by putting in a Murphy bed? A bigger room and bigger bathroom, but multiple uses for all. The existing full bath area could get taken over as a larger mudroom/laundry room. It would be long and rectangular but would be a lot more square footage for such a frequently used space. All of that would depend on the feasibility of plumbing, etc., I'm sure. If you have any way of moving some of that infrastructure around, it could be a worthwhile investment. Love the entryway bench and the placement of the pantry!
