You might want to reduce the picture size some. Wait until the grayed out image gets full color before hitting the submit button.

Kinda hard to see because no good views of leaves and terminal cut off, but my guess is a ginger or a banana.

They were being pulled out of planters in Portland Oregon. The city was going to dump them but let me take them. I just don’t know what they are or how to care for them

Well, I can assume general tropical care, with extra large large pots. Full sun, high humidity, warm, etc. Moisture retentive humousy soil would be my suggestions, though many would use a gritty mix, but this is gonna be super thirsty as long as it's growing well.

As you probably don't have a greenhouse try cutting the tops off, potting up and storing in the garage as resting plants until next spring. And kept just moist enough that they don't die.

If you have a bright window in the garage place them near that in the spring so that they start growing new tops early enough in the season to amount to something after you move them out for the summer in May or June.

Also if winter conditions ever occur there where serious freezing inside the garage is possible then they will have to be moved into a warmer area during this time. And moved back out to the garage as soon as the sharp cold is over.
