Help Me Find This Farmhouse Floor Plan Please!
Comments (18)DML2000 I don't believe the person who initially posted about the pork chop eaves meant anything negative but was just saying they are noticeable in this particular house. I welcome the comment and the link to different types of eaves because building is new to me so I'm interested in learning all I can. I've never really thought/noticed eaves before and didn't realize there were different ways to finish them. I will talk to my builder about these and get his thoughts about the best design for the house I build. Don't know that we'll build this particular house but I thought it was good info to know and something to think about. :) MISSOURIBOUND - Here's a link to more photos of the house from the designer. Not sure if you've seen these or not. They may answer your question. Click on the 'portfolio' tab and then you see this house, 'North Maney.' http://jtaylordesigns.net...See MoreWhich Farmhouse Exterior Do You Like The Most?
Comments (81)I have been looking at these floorplans as well and have the same idea as cpartist on the exterior changes. I love the simple, more traditional look of removing the shutters an the extra garage bump out. I love the interior layouts of all of them as well, but am trying to cut corners (literally) to lessen the amount of bump outs in hopes that we can make it work with our budget. There are about 4 floor plans from the same designer that have a similar layout and range from 2000-2600 sqft. Here's the smallest of the floorplans...See MoreBuying a Farmhouse - How do we update this exterior?
Comments (15)And this, folks, is a true farmhouse. As the farmer had good years and/ or more children, he added more floor space. No architect, designer, or person with taste ever darkened the doorstep. No building department was ever called or passed the work. My grandma’s new washer and dryer were beside the kitchen table—and she was so happy she didn’t have to go outside to the summer kitchen to boil wash water on the coal stove and pour it into the wringer washer. Another corner of the kitchen was framed out for the new bathroom. Indoor plumbing!? My grandfather thought the world had gone crazy! What was wrong with using an outhouse? Wallpaper came from the hardware store and had a pattern of ivy leaves. I would urge you to live in your house for 6-12 months to discover the good points as well as the bad. Find out why something was done before you rip out anything. Plan and job cost each project you think you want. Don’t rip off siding without an exploratory discovery of what lies underneath. The original siding could hide there or there could be holes and voids that will require custom milled siding to fill in the blanks. Adopt an electrician and a plumber because it will be cheaper than hiring them! Restore, restore, restore. Once you dispose of historic features, you have ruined the house....See MoreLooking for antique look farmhouse out floor plans!
Comments (20)I hate cookie cutter answers. You say you already know exactly what you want. What is it that you cannot find? My sister bought her land from one of the top custom builders in our area. Like you, she knew what she wanted, but couldn't find the Tudor style exterior and the interior layout that she wanted. She did, however, find a plan for a Mediterranean home that had a floor plan that met all of her wishes. She took the plans to her builder and explained her dilemma. Her builder wasn't worried at all. He told her to buy the plans and he and his team would alter the plans to create the Tudor exterior with the room layout and dimensions of the plan she purchased. Her home is absolutely stunning. It actually won an award for best new build in our county the year it was built. She obviously didn't need an architect. On the other hand, some people really don't have the ability to analyze their needs, are not good at visualizing spaces or may have special needs that require the expertise of a qualified architect. Like any other major expenditure you have to balance budget vs cost vs needs. Not everyone drives a Mercedes - some can't afford a Mercedes and some who could afford a Mercedes prioritize their spending and find that a Mercedes isn't how they want to spend their money, and some who really can't afford a Mercedes buy one anyway and struggle to pay their rent or get a second job so they can make the payments....See Moreacm
