Is there a reason you want engineered wood rather than hard wood? I have engineered wood in my den since it's on a slab and wood in the kitchen. This is my second wood floor in the kitchen and I wouldn't do anything else. Of course if your kitchen is on a slab, you would want to do engineered. I don't have experience with the Shaw or engineered in kitchen.

Who is telling you not to use engineered wood in the kitchen?

What flooring is going in the rest of the house?

Hard to tell sometimes in photos, but there is something not quite right in the undertones between that carpet sample and LVP floor sample.

Where are you located? You could also do porcelain tile in those colors. That’s what I have but I’m in south Florida and it’s pretty much necessary here. ;)

KR, Your floor is absolutely beautiful! We live in the Midwest so we would have lot of cold toes if we did it all porcelain tile. :)

@ Abby D , Engineered wood flooring is perfect for the kitchen. Our clients use it every week. A bathroom with a tub or shower is a different story however. Who told you not to use it in the kitchen? Its much easier on your feet than tile.

Can you tell me what the style number is of the Shaw LVP sample picture you have posted? Did you go with it?

Check out Provenza Sweet Talker LVP. Looks very similar to that photo. Lots of photos online too.

@AJ D did you look at the Smartcore Naturals in the Bluegrass Trail Maple? I'm currently considering this line as it is an engineered wood veneer. Like you, I'm sick of looking and trying to decide.

I’m sick of it too, we want something very light and there aren’t many options in LVP for very light oak looking floors. @Aj one fair warning I’ll give, with Provenza’s Moda living line, each piece has a different shade of variation so it’s really hard to tell the true shades via a sample cutting. If you can get your hands On a full box, that would be the best way to see it. Also photos do not do them justice.

Following this. I’m also searching for a light warm (not too gray) luxury vinyl plank. Really wanted engineered hardwood but where we live, the subterranean termites will destroy it. :(

cali bamboo is the most expensive. i love it but our flooring stores have it priced high! even with my designer pricing!

We just put engineered wood in our kitchen- had it our last kitchen as well and love it. Not sure why so many people think you can't have wood in the kitchen. Under regular use it's fine and doesn't hurt your back. Of course if you have a flood issue that's another story- but we've never had an issue.

@AJD. I know this an old post, but I am curious as to what the tile is in your original post? Was that a backsplash tile or countertop? If it was for your countertop, please let me know what it is as I really like the look of it. Only difference is that I am looking for a lighter European White Oak LVP, SPC with minimum of 20 mil and natural or micro bevel. Having the hardest time finding something!

Has anyone tried or looked at a brand named Parkay? It’s their organic LVP. They have it in a local floor store and it’s beautiful! Going back today to look again and take home samples. I was hoping someone had more info about it. They also have a hardened hardwood that’s waterproof and I’m going to see that today to find out more about the core of both products.
