backsplash dilemma... I really need help!
Comments (14)To me bianco romano is on the busy side, so I would put a non-busy backsplash. Eg. pulling pale cream and doing just that color like muranogirls pale cream backsplash or pulling pale gray from it and doing just that color like ni_2006's pale gray ceramic tile. Here is a pale glass tile backsplash in a color that is not pulled from the countertop. (Grout lines make it slightly busy.) Someone recently posted a frosted white glass subway tile with stainless tile just at the range that was gorgeous. You could use 2x8s or soldier pattern or a "blend" of frosted and clear glass to make it more modern. Here is a link that might be useful: bianco romano with glass backsplash...See Moreplease please help with backsplash grout color??
Comments (7)I have the mushroom color sticks for my current tile and they are a tad darker and less yellow than the color on this card you have. I also have the mushroom grout in my foyer and it is definitely a mushroom color and not yellow at all. I think you should try a sample of the mushroom or the antique white that looks NOTHING like the color on this card. Look up my posts on choosing the grout colors for my new tiles and you will see what I mean. The white works but I would like to see the grout color a little darker to blend more with the tile unless you like the contrast....See MoreHelp please! Question about tile backsplash
Comments (14)I'm back, with my kitchen pretty far along now, but I still have a question about the tile! Originally I had thought I was going to use white subway tile, but I found this beautiful matte 3x3 gray ceramic tile at the Heath Ceramics factory for a very good discount, and couldn't say no. My cabinets are all in, the range hood is up, I have mounted 2 wooden shelves to the right of the hood. The plan is to tile everything under the upper cabs, filling the wall space. The tile will go up to the bottom of the range hood. I'm ending the tile horizontally at the outer edge of the open shelving. Now my big question is: do I end the tile vertically at the bottom shelf , i.e.- in line with bottom of upper cabs, or tile up to the bottom of the upper shelf, i.e.- in line with the hood? Any advice or opinions much appreciated! I'm attaching some pictures, very messy as the tiling is in progress. The tiles appear darker in the photos than they do in real life, and especially in daylight, which my kitchen gets a lot of. The actual shelves are not up right now, just the brackets. I'm also attaching a photo of the materials/colors used in the kitchen: white, wood, carrara marble, gray ceramic....See MoreHelp! Will this back-splash work?
Comments (18)If your choice were only between to 2 you originally posted, I'd choose the one on the right--the cream one. From the photos it looks like it works very well with your quartzite. The gray one is "off" just enough not to look pleasing. However, as many have noted, either one is more difficult to clean than a smooth surface. What sort of cook are you--very neat or more devil-may-care? If you are very neat and do not splash much when you cook, then you may get away with the split-faced marble, but if you are a more exuberant cook, you may find it a challenge to clean. The mother of pearl is very formal and quite busy, so it's going to compete with the counter tops as well. Personally, I would use a smooth crackle tile in a tan/beige tone to work with your quartzite. Simple is always good....See Moresondramartina
