Can you post photos? You may have other options other than paint, and more lighting options than you have considered. Can you install skylights or solar tubes? Can you lighten the feel with light colored rugs and furnishings? Enlarge the windows? White Heron has a touch of green in it. Have you considered a very light soft green for the walls, which might look fresher? If the neighbors tree is hanging over your property you can ask them to trim it.

First address your lighting all the bulbs should be LEDs in 4000K and IMO beige in all its hues are drab’and those both have very peach undertones which I never like. Have you looked at a soft grayed/ green like sea salt from SW I find it a very neutral color and not at all beige

Thank you all so much for your help on our dilemma. We added two skylights in the dining room and the trees in our neighbors yard cannot be cut back or down. I have contacted an electrician to address our lighting to see what else we can do and will be looking at BM Sail Cloth. Again, thank you so much for the wonderful advice. It is appreciated greatly.

The pictures of the room painted with BM Sail Cloth are lovely. Any suggestions for the ceiling color? Or would the ceiling look good painted Cloud White by BM? Thank you!

Hi, theotherthompsons. Cloud white works well as the ceiling color in my rooms. It sort of just disappears.

Just remember that many of the go to trim colors (White Dove, Cloud White, Cotton Balls, etc.) are pretty much interchangeable as the differences are very subtle. My take on it is pick your wall color then get into the trim.

I have used Cloud white in every home I have lived in for the last 20 years...it is slightly warm and might counter act the coolness of your environment? I use it on all trim and the ceiling and doors and used it on the walls in a small bathroom and guest room...love it....Shoji White is also a warm white with a touch of pink in by SW.....but the white in the BM deck are all so beautiful you might have a hard time deciding ....they are at the very front of the deck. Good luck.

And never underestimate lamps....I remember when Candice Olsen was on HGTV she did a living room that had all plaster walls and ceiling and so didn't want to rip it out and rewire for ceiling lights etc....she ended up using four pair of lamps and one floor lamp and a very large chandelier. A pair on a console table, a pair of wall mounts with covered cords on wall behind sofa, a pair on either side of the TV console, a pair on the radiator cover and a floor lamp in a corner by a reading chair with an Armoire used for the books....and a very large chrome and gold large chandelier in the center of the ceiling where the only ceiling wires were...it was fabulous as only Candice can do it....I do miss her and her talent....so think lamps!

Hello! You can try Satin Silver by Ben Moore. It’s a soft and subtle warm gray.

Look into adding skylights or solartubes. Trimming the trees at the right time of year may help bring in additional natural light.
