This is timely because I have similar cabinets. I've been looking for whites that aren't too bright. I just got an estimate from a cabinet painter; his proposal included 2 coats of oil-based primer and then 2 coats of either oil or water-based paint. I'd be nervous picking out colors just from small samples. I guess they won't let you pick out the actual slabs of granite they'd be installing? That's what I'd want to do. I googled your granite and there seems to be a lot of variations in the colors. That's why I would want to see the slabs before I chose my tile, etc. Here's one kitchen I found, but I don't know what's going on with the back splash and wall color. I'm seeing gray, red and brown and olive. http://www.marble.com/portfolio/kitchens/165 On this site they say there's more grey and black in the granite. I agree what they say about the back splash. If you can't get it from one dealer, go to another or order samples from the company that makes the tile. You'd think you'd get better customer service in this economy.

Aw man, thanks for the comments guys! After being in this house with small kids for eight years, the cabinets are showing wear and there is quite a bit of water damage on many of them and some are broken (didn’t show you that photo!). So...that was where my head was at with going ahead and painting the cabinets. They are already priming today so this is a done deal! In my area, painting cabs is still a big thing (we might steer behind the times a little) and a big thing people look for in resale (we could be moving in a couple years). Honestly, it might not be trendy but I still love my granite! It hides stuff so well and never looks dirty. And I never even notice my backsplash and I just don’t care that much about it. It’s hard for me to warrant changing something just for cosmetic reasons (counter and backsplash) versus need (cabs). We got an amazing deal on the painting so I feel good about it. I’m going full steam with Antique White. After looking at it forever and being in complete decision making paralysis, that’s what I’m going with! I’m going with brass/gold knobs to add a little bit of funky and I have lots of Anthropologie-esque and plants to add character. I have a very open floor plan with my living room right there in all it’s colorful glory, so I’m thinking the lighter will look nice. I’ll be happy to post a pic when I’m done. eld6161 It is like bright white and so are the baseboards, crown molding and stairs that go up right beside the kitchen as well as all of our doors. Our house is open concept, so all of our space is like one big room. :( freedomplace1....thanks so much for those suggestions. Will definitely get samples to try in our space!
