coleen ... just curious ... did you see the chairs irl & sit in them? ... are you ordering them through a local furniture store? we have been looking for small-scaled leather recliners ... if such an animal even exists! we haven't run across hancock & moore; but if they are a high-quality outfit, we will definitely try to find them (chgo. suburbs) thank you ... & good luck! phyl

Thanks for the responses. I really like the idea of the beige chairs and washed out red cushions. I do want something comfortable so that the room will get used. I just found some red and white floral chairs on CL that I like. Great price too. You guys are swaying me away from the red, but these look perfect otherwise. Doubt I'd be able to get them before someone else snatches them up anyhow... maybe a good thing. The CL slipcovered sofa was just $50. and it's the custom made seperate pieces not the big sure-fit thing - so I was really pleased. It'll be a while before I can post any pictures. They are just putting in windows and the door today. More ideas welcome!

Julia, I don't know about you, but I prefer slipcovers -- I have three kids (older teens/early twenties now) and we farm and have a construction business, and slipcovered sofa and chairs are just easier for me to keep clean and looking nice. I should probably have more "legs" in the living room, though the coffee table is a very leggy Queen Anne cabriole style so hopefully that makes up for all the skirts : ) .

I love the table and the chairs. hate everything else. (hate is strong...lets just say the rest of the room is doing you no favors). you need a proper chandelier, not one pendant light. the warm toned plates just do not work. your buffet is too small and the mirror doesn't belong in there. (a larger art piece on canvas would be better) and those shelves......no. you need a proper sized rug, although I do like the hide. perhaps you could double it on top of another. here are some visuals to help you see what we all mean. similar size to what you have. notice the rug and the walls and the light proper mirror over a buffet. it all works w/the table and these chairs. notice the rug size look at the buffet and the artwork over it. this is what you need. if you use the blue chairs, then bring in something that plays w/the blues. like this pic. and if you did a bright white wainscot and navy upper, bring in a white buffet and some nice artwork, maybe a touch of pink accenting,,,,gorgeous other blue accents large chairs, beautiful light, notice the rug fits the table. size-wise, your buffet should be the size of the one in this pic. Notice the great light over the table.
