Banquette Table: Round vs Rectangular
Comments (26)Thanks for the photo's. I am putting in a banquette too. I never even thought of using one, but a kitchen designer talked me into it. My wall is 9 ft. long - I don't want the banquette that long so I think I will put seating ends on it. I will have windows behind it and small windows on the sides. I may not even use a table with it, since I will have an island that seats 3-4 and I'm a "family of 1"... After I made my decision to put one in, I was suprised how many of the kitchen magazines are showing them now. So I'm glad I was "talked into it"....See MoreLayout Thoughts - Peninsula, Banquette
Comments (3)I like the refrigerator and oven in the space that you have them in your plan. Since friends and family who aren't cooking with you might need to access the refrigerator, having it on the outside keeps them outside of your main cooking/prep zone. You can also easily take hot pans out of the oven and put them directly on your cooktop if you need to. I'm not sure how much space you have in your eat-in area. Can you use a corner banquette and round table in against the wall and still fit a few small stools under the peninsula? Maybe the narrow ones with the wood saddle seat?...See MoreBuilt in banquette/radiator question
Comments (3)Do some research on radiator enclosures before the redesign. Although the item is termed a radiator, in reality, more heat is transferred by convection than radiation. If a radiator is to adequately heat the space, it needs appropriate air flow - cool air in at the bottom, warm air exiting at the top...See MoreInspiring Photos needed: DW in penisula, banquette w/ off-center light
Comments (29)I had this set-up in a rental house years and years ago ... though the dishwasher was closer to the corner (imagine the drawer unit flip-flopped with the dishwasher). Admittedly, I was just out of college and was simply thrilled to have a dishwasher ... but I never once considered it a problem. I don't think the dishwasher is a problem here; rather, the thing to question is, do you have drawers under your peninsula? In this set-up, you'd be okay: you have drawers for your silverware -- you could easily move silverware from the dishwasher to the drawer ... and you could pass silverware over to the eating area. Ditto for prep items such as knives, etc. I would NOT want this layout with the dishwasher only /no drawers. I think a small kitchen is fine -- as long as you have a big adjacent pantry. In this picture, I think the question becomes, does the dishwasher open without hitting the adjacent cabinet hardware ... and does the open dishwasher door prevent you from putting things away in the cabinets? The fixture should be centered on table. Has nothing to do with window I think both matter. The light fixture should be centered on BOTH the table AND the window. It'd drive me crazy otherwise....See Moreericag613
