Comments (44)Done. Tugsie, it's Tahoe Blue and came out OK. Not perfect as there are a few rough spots, but for the most part it feels really nice on the feet. For what it's worth, it's virtually identical to my brother-in-laws Pebble Sheen in look & feel, so if you're worried about the brand name, don't be. It really is all the same stuff. Like most say on here though, I think the end product all comes down to the skill of the installers. The water color is kind of light teal with just a slight greenish tint, which some people don't seem to like. I think it's gorgeous, especially against the light travertine. Take a look! Thanks for looking....See Morewhat's the deal with bad remodels? (rant)
Comments (37)Weed block fabric, bad. Weed block plastic, positively evil. That's all I'm sayin' about that. There's always going to be differing opinions about whether or not someone "should" have done Project X to his/her house, and I think it's rather a waste of time to discuss taste. But what I don't understand is when work on a house -- or a garden -- is done 90% of the way, when just a little extra push/time/money would've made it a great job. Examples? How about the houses that have "finished basements" -- but there are no switch plates, base moldings or light fixtures installed? Just a couple of bulbs dangling from the ceiling. How much more work would it have taken to add those little finishing touches that really complete the room? Or the back garden where they've splashed out on quality paving materials and had them delivered to the site -- but then they're dropped randomly onto the ground instead of being properly placed, and they're wobbly and unsafe to step on. Why not take the extra time to prepare the base and secure that material in a way that's appropriate for your climate and practical for people using it? Or the "sunroom addition" that's larger than a bump-out but too small to hold usable furniture... I was in one not long ago that was five by seven feet. If you could afford to hire the workers to pour the slab foundation and build the "room," how much more cost would've been involved in making that room 9 x 11 instead?...See MoreStarting up another remodel (part 2) photo heavy
Comments (51)oldbat: they look great in person. It is really hard to capture the light they put off. My friend told me that she felt like she was sitting in a high end bar or restaurant when we were sitting at the island last week. They really create a warm lovely glow. They also are the only hanging lights in the entire room which is basically the house since it's open concept so it really defines the space. Here is a photo of them with a low light filter. I have a good bit of stuff to go. I have the butcher block at home but I haven't had the time or the muscle to move it yet. I also have some cabinets for above the big one and sink area. Glass needs to go into the uppers, etc etc....See MorePlease introduce yourself Part 2
Comments (27)Hi guys- I have lurked for a long time, but only started posting about 6 months ago. I love to decorate, and have been blessed to work at home for Southern Living at HOME for 7 years, hence the moniker. Fantastic hubby of 10 years and I live in the middle of Missouri wine country, with our 4 small children and have already built one house, we are getting ready to build again on our 36 acres but have changed on our mind on an exterior(farm house? Log cabin? Mountain cottage?) so many times the locals think we're(ok, I'm) nuts! I have seriously sent 3 different plans out to bid. I still can't make up my mind. I love getting (and stealing!) ideas from you creative girls! We're into college football, great wine and steak, and head to the beach in Southeast Georgia/North Florida a few times a year to get our fix. It is my favorite place in the world, other than home. We also have 2 6 month old Great Pyrnees pups that are now as big as my 7 year old Chocolate Lab!!!...See Moreocotillaks
