Pics of my Photo/Art Wall
Comments (4)Yup. Know exactly what you all mean about filling in the space between the couch and frames. I'm going to tweak it and post again. It was kind of bugging me. I was thinking I should have started the entire thing about 6 inches lower, but I'm not moving it now! To arrange it, I laid it all out on that huge pinkish type construction paper (you know the kind builders use to cover your floors) that I bought at HD. I fiddled with it and when everything was where I wanted it, I traced each frame and marked the nail hole. I then put the entire thing up on the wall and put a nail where I marked. I wasn't perfect. I had to still tweak a bit, but it went relatively smoothly. I'll post an update when I rearrange the bottom. Thanks for your comments!...See MoreWhere to Sell One's (Art) Quilts: Wall Hangings (not Bed Quilts
Comments (1)Why limit yourself? Why not try them all? I would skip e bay, but you can check recent sales there and see what quilts have sold for. I'm betting it's a pretty low amount, but it's worth looking. I think you'll see more at $15 than at $150 or at $1500. Place a couple on etsy. Then tell everyone you know about etsy and get them to tell all their friends! Spend a Saturday hitting several street markets in the city and see where people are selling their art. Ask a vendor or two there what kind of permits they are required to have and how you go about reserving a spot. Think of it like any job hunting - it takes work and time to find out what's available. You're lucky to be in NYC because you don't need a car to get around. (and probably couldn't find a place to park one if you had it!). Start small and take a few of your favorite quilts to one of the street markets and give it a try. See what shoppers are looking for and how they react to your prices. Quilt during the week and evenings; work the market on the weekend when the shoppers are out in larger numbers. It's not a waste of your time because no one can sell your own product with the passion that you'll bring to it. It also lets you see and hear what buyers are interested in. "Gee I would love this if only it were pink!" Some of it will make you crazy but it's all worth hearing. Place ads in the free newspapers around the city. If you think your work is fabulous, take a few to small local galleries and ask if they are interested. Lots of small restaurants display art for sale, so why not a quilt or two? Doesn't hurt to ask. Take one to a artist's co-op. Even if you have to share the sale price, it's a way to get started and out in the marketplace. It's a good way to find out what people will pay for your quilts too. Tell all your friends that every time they have a party, you want to display at least one of your quilts. Someone at the party may be your next buyer or they might have friends who invest in art. Print up some postcards with a pictures of a quilt or two and leave stacks of them in all the bars and restaurants! Donate one to a favorite charity that's having a public event and let them raffle it off. Of course, your name as the quilter/donor would have to be prominently displayed! What great advertising! Hope at least one of those ideas works for you! Kate...See MoreHow many inches above headboard should I hang art/wall decor?
Comments (6)If the headboard isn't overpowering and a statement in itself, I'd go ahead and put lightweight art above... even though I don't live in earthquake country, I'd be nervous about anything heavy up there. Agree with arcy, I wouldn't want to have anything so low as to be hitting my head on anything over the bed when sitting up in it. So a photo of the bed would be great....See Moreart wall gallery dimensions
Comments (5)showing a picture of the room is going to be of no help because the wall color is changing and all my furniture is going. so I need to base this off the actual measurements of the dimensions of that particular wall ( there will be no other art next to it) so the amount of pieces I chose and the dimensions of the art makes sense for that space....See MoreYayagal
