Grohe or hansgrohe, which is better?
Comments (37)motherof3inct (I am a motherof3inca :-) , but also an Interior Designer. I've specified many Kohler products for clients/projects and never had anyone complain about water pressure coming from the shower-heads. Well, unless you are a Californian and we have VERY strict codes regarding gpm (gallons per minute) or flow rate, but we are past complaining and just used to it! Maybe shangaimom ended up with a CA approved fixture by mistake? This easy to do inadvertently when buying plumbing fixtures online, as opposed to purchasing at a local supplier. Also, whether or not showerheads have the option to change type of flow is really more of a model thing, not a Kohler across-the-board thing - many of the kohler shower-heads do allow you to change type of flow. Anyway - just didn't want you to be scared of KOHLER as a brnad. They make beautiful products in a range of qualities levels and options. I've really like their products - sounds like the Memoirs was just too basic for the case mentioned above....See MoreEvaluate quotes - which is better?
Comments (8)The Carrier 58STX70 (your model number is incorrect) is is a low end model. I would not recommend it. The AC part of the Comfort series which is close to the bottom for their products. I also don't recommend buying an 80% AFUE furnace. The Bryant 925S furnace is much nicer. It is 2-stage and is rated for 96% efficiency. The AC is the preferred series which is similar to the Carrier Performance series. It is still a single stage but better built than the Carrier option. The Bryant dealer has quoted a second larger furnace. I assume he did this to try to get a better SEER rating. I recommend you not over size the furnace in order to improve the SEER rating. He has also quoted a 3.5 ton AC. Over sizing the AC is also bad. What is your location, the size of the house, and the present sizes of the furnace and AC? Did anyone do a load calculation?...See MoreTWP vs. DuckBack Superdeck. Which is better?
Comments (13)I think TWP is fine product. I know of several wood resto guys that I respect very much and they speak highly of it. I refrain from making too many comments for two reasons.. 1) I have limited experience with it so I am not qualified to advise on it longevity or compare it to other products. 2) I have other products I have found that give me better one coat coverage and last a bit longer. These are not really available to the public so if I had to choose a product that is sold retail I would choose Ready Seal or TWP. If you have been satisfied with the SD in the past and you are certain the formulation is the same (ie has not been reformulated to meet new VOC standards) go with it. I feel your pain about the sanding. Acrylics are a nightmare. You could have removed the product you are talking about with a contractor grade stripper but even then, it takes finesse and experience. As far as post-sanding cleaning, the RAD system would be advisable because the oxygenating action would lift remaining dirt and dust, kill any mold spores in the wood and the brightening stage would set the wood up with proper pH to hold a penetrating sealer better. If you have gone this far, I wouldn't leave anything to chance....See MoreNorcraft vs. Marsh cabinets - is one better?
Comments (2)I met with the other, smaller company Friday. I was there for 3 hours. I really want to work with them - they really took time to understand the project and what's important to me. I don't think I want to go with Marsh though. I have the door sample along with the door sample from Norcraft and the Marsh door edges don't seem as crisp. They carry Cabico, she thinks it will likely be out of my budget (but to go with a better cabinet, I would be willing to go up a bit), but is going to price it. The company I want to work with carries Marsh, Medallion, Cabico, Holiday, Rosewood, and Design Craft. If we can't find something that works without going crazy on the budget, then I can hold my nose and call the other company. But I really don't want to do that. I've been trying to talk my husband into Barker! He's not enthused or motivated to do RTA. With the whole house disassembled in the construction process, we really wouldn't have a place to store and assemble....See MoreNewhome2018
