New home owner here! I know very little about plants but I’m hoping to learn. I’m wanting to start with the plantings at the front foundation bed and need some guidance.

Here are are the details:

- zone 6 Atlantic coast of Canada (many freeze thaw cycles)

- the front walk way is the border of the septic system, nothing to be planted beyond

- front yard is seeded with a no now clover

- the house is symmetrical and I’d like a complementary style that’s not too stiff and formal looking

- I don’t know what the soil type is - mostly fill brought in from a few kilometers away

- high humidity in the summer 90% +

- the foundation is screw piles so no need to worry about root damage

- I’m not willing to add chemical fertilizers or pesticides etc

- winter interest is a must with 7 months of nothing growing

- pink flowers or berrys would be great
