Hardy dark red tea rose?
Comments (29)To the_morden_man: Not a silly question) probably it is just my luck of knowledge. I want a rose with strait stems, large blooms, compact and fragrant with lager petal count . Some other roses I have that fit this description are HT. This is why I am looking for HT. ) But I have no idea if there any others that fit as well. Please let me know if they do! As far as snow cover goes - almost every winter we have at least 2 weeks with temp below 15F without any amount of snow... So i guess it is enough to harm......See MoreTall rose for prominent area (Red or dark pink)?
Comments (0)I have a prominent wall near my back door (the door everyone uses) that needs a new rose. I've had Altissimo there for years but have developed a deep dislike for it. While I love my other singles, I think I'd really a double/cupped type rose for this area. Good repeat bloom is important here. Since the wall is tan/beige, I was thinking that red or deep pink would be best. Something tall and narrow or a self-supporting climber, 6 feet or so. I was thinking about: Maggie Mme. Isaac Pereire (not sure about rebloom) Quadra (I already have this one, still very small, not sure if it is self-supporting) Cadenza (not so OGR looking?) M. Tiller ( perhaps not hardy enough for me?) Thanks for any suggestions! Maureen...See MorePlease Recommend A Dark Red to Climb With Rose Alchymist
Comments (8)Gravetye Beauty is the only one on your list that I have and it, along with Princess Dianna and Etoile Rose, can be mildew magnets in my garden. Using a Neem based fungicide has helped with the issue this summer however. Gravetye Beauty in my garden is more of a burgundy colored clematis to my eyes anyway. For reddish colored clematis that do well in my garden, I would recommend either Madame Julia Correvon, Kermesina or even Avant Garde. If you can get a good red clone of the texensis I have, I would also recommend it. Texensis Avant Garde Madame Julia Correvon A collage of various reddish clematis from left to right are Abundance, Kermesina and Madame Julia Correvon....See MoreDark Purplish/Red blooms
Comments (22)I thought I'd already posted on this thread, but my message is not here. I wanted to suggest Rose Campion as a long-blooming intensely colored perennial. I would call its color magenta, and it's so intense, even its small flowers are eye-catching from far off. The plants are indestructible, and it re seeds to the point that many consider it a garden thug. But, it is beautiful. It likes full sun and is very drought tolerant. Martha...See MoreHU-103548686
