Subzero Integrated column over aggressive closing issue

David Cary

So we have 30 inch integrated columns in a new build.

The freezer works fine - closes at a reasonable rate from anywhere less than 75 degrees open or so. The refrigerator wants to self close from anywhere up to 120 degrees. We have had the install people return (twice) and 2 different authorized repair people come.

The last one did remove stops from the hinges that were supposed to be removed from install. We have had the hinges replaced. And the latest answer from the Subzero engineers (through a repair man) is that "it is supposed to work that way".

The freezer doesn't of course and they offer no explanation on that. No Subzero engineer has ever been out to our house of course. And Subzero has no mechanism for end users to talk with the engineers either so it is unclear how the description is getting conveyed.

So anyone else have this issue? Doesn't help that we went to a open house nearby with Thermador columns and they were perfect.

Which raises another question - has anyone successfully gotten Subzero to buyback their product?
