Help me add some polish to my guest room - all ideas welcome
Comments (59)Thanks for the feedback on the curtains. It sure is easier for me to do....nothing! Of course my dog has already managed to get tangled up in one and pull the entire thing (including rod) off the wall. And in less than 48 hours since hanging too! Thats gotta be some sort of record. Hopefully that doesn't happen again. Geokid, I wanted it your way too, and when we moved in tried to get it set up this way. I was vetoed and since I got to pick placement of every other room, I didn't argue too much. I can't recall the problem....maybe the dresser didn't fit on that wall? Some weird feng shui thing? nosoccormom - that light will likely be replaced with the oh so functional but not always attractive ceiling fan when we get around to it. It's close to a 100 year old house. It's been remodeled/rehabbed but not quite sure of how well it was insulated and how HOT it will get up there. We have lots of pretty windows, but they probably won't help much. Thoughts on a chair? It will obviously have to be small. I would love a pop of color over in that corner (I like color) but am not confident that I will find one that matches the rug. So how would another color like coral look? Too much?...See MoreDecor ideas for small boys/guest room
Comments (1)Call me crazy, but I love lt lime & a soft aqua together. Just because I always do what I shouldn't (lol)..I'd make a wide horizontal stripe (maybe even using a couple moldings for dimension, instead of just paint)..between the 2 colors (as a chair rail). Then do the stripe/molding in a silver foil technique. You can then add chrome accents in lamp bases, photo frames, etc. Taking a pleasing color opposite on the color wheel-use that color for a grouping of 6 prints (framed in silver/chrome) and for throw pillows/rug, etc.. Crazy, I know....See MoreAnother thought on my guest room and options!
Comments (7)A few thoughts -- no conclusions. 1. Blue is one of those colors that changes in a bad way with frequent washings, in my opinion. So I wouldn't want to use accents in different fabrics that would change in different directions when they were washed. 2. Your wall has 2 nice windows and a headboard, so it would look good if "emphasized", but it is already interesting on it's own. 3. Had you considered using the accent color on the little alcove area? 4. In your model pic, I noticed that the windows on the headboard wall have a white/trim-colored treatment where there are blue drapes on the other walls. I really like that. It sets off the wall by emphasizing the features, which works even better than if the wall were different color...See MoreOffice/guest room ideas
Comments (8)I was thinking of an aqua blue with the lime-ish green and silver you have already determined you will use. Would be a little calming with the brighter elements. You can sometimes find smaller, inexpensive upholstered chairs all over the place....overstock, Pier 1, Wayfair, etc. I would also make sure you used those colors in the rug and maybe a pillow or other decorative pieces....See Moremyricarchitect
