Picking pendant lights
Comments (23)Thanks all. My husband hated the Kichler Quinn. He hates drum lights. He is difficult! He is set on a light that doesnt hang down over the kitchen table. I may be able to change that, but i'm not sure. He's very set in his ideas. So far I am thinking of either the Hudson Valley Darien in Antique Nickel with a white glass shade (8" size) Or the Boston pendant on Circa Lighting's page in Antique Nickel Or I could go back with the pendants I had in my last house, which were Hubbardton Forge. They dont have a nickel finish, but I could get Smoke, Black, Burnished Steel...In my last house I had black, but the part right above the glass globe was copper. It was very pretty And then I am sort of liking one of these lights for over the table (if I went with HF) or Still unsure on the Hubbardton Forge though. I like the lights when I see them in a room, but I'm not always sold just seeing a picture of the light by itself....See MoreSize of pendant island lighting
Comments (23)Sandra , you can do two but you need to make sure the height circumstance ratio is proportioned to your ceiling height and island size. So in a nut shell search for something that is short in height but has a large circumstance:width. Also a rod bs a chain will be more forgiving visually in a shorter length. Also don’t be afraid to put something up that wouldnt come up in an island light or pendant light search. You’re more likely to find what you need doing a chandelier search because because you want something large around. If two us what you want then make your Choice bold and intentional. Don’t hang two small scale lantern type lights up and expect them to work. Moving electrical and patching drywall etc. Is not cheap so really take your time until you find what is right. you could even do two of something like this for a Wow statement....See MoreHelp me Chandelier size /style for my Dining room ?
Comments (23)Beth thank you thank you. yes I think that first one with the blue is stunning but it is over budget. I tried searching it out shopping wise and it's just gorgeous but I think I am not willing to spring for the $. It's stunning and maybe I will think on this more. 2- The Kira Adelade could work and yes the price is terrific but I am not sure if I like it better than Presidio. I was entertaining it with the dark shade as I thought it was navy but it's black. (the last photo ) so again it's really nice but not calling my name. (yet?) 3 The Manhattan is very attractive and also great price and could work. Fwiw the brass/gold finish has a cream shade which I think is ok as well. The brass/gold is out of stock but I probably could search it out somewhere. 4- The Zoey is also really nice and well priced.. and although it's a drum, it's a bit different from what I have been looking at...I think that the wire from which it hangs is a plain wire and I prefer either chain or tube. 5- The last one is the Kira with the dark shade. LizzieB thank you for your comment. I follow your threads and love your taste (as you see, another lifelong blue fan here). I do love that first one and may try shopping around. At this point, I think I need to think some more on this. I usually show DH my final contenders and often let him pick or at least hear if there are any he dislikes. I am holding off at the moment because I know on the one hand he will say anything would be way better than what's there ( and he'd be right!! lol) and also I suspect that being the unobservant male, he would automatically go with a traditional candle chandelier. I was thinking white shade but would cream offwhite be better or really no difference? So, still thinking The preecy pricey navy one. (the signature one from RLRelocation) Also the clover one but thinking maybe too glam. Presidio. Ovanda (chandelier) I do like the one Jinx shared but I think I don't adore it. It seems to be they are all great options so I thank you-- my take is that none would be a bad choice. Thanks for all the support and suggestions Did I mention that I struggle with decisions?...See MoreHelp for Lighting Over Dining Table
Comments (47)Btydrvn, to answer your OT question, my house is one of those places where people are always coming and going and everyone knows there’s food and a place at my table. So all the chairs are used. Not at every meal of every day, but very frequently. The table is not as close to the buffet as it might appear on the photo. My dining space is large enough that I can afford to let plenty of space between the table and buffet and all the places at the table are easily accessible. And to those of you who suggested I contact those who sell this light regarding open box or damaged lights, thank you. I’m currently waiting to hear back....See MoreRelated Professionals
