How to keep solar lights in place on old floor lamp?
Comments (17)OK, I put the solar lights in the lamp and they have stayed for several days without me connecting them in any way - they are just sitting over where the cardboard tubes were before I removed them. But the lights won't stay straight - they lean because the tops are touching and it's the only way they'll stay. I haven't painted the lamp yet because I haven't had time. I just went out and took some pictures but the solar lights have been stored unopen for quite a few years so they do seem a little dim. I like the overall effect but I think I need a different style solar light. It was a good idea and I'd like to say thanks to JoAnn for bringing it up. Well, maybe I'm just tired (yeah, that's it, sure) but I cannot post the pictures. I highlighted the link address but it only takes you to the photobucket sign in page. Or, I did something else (I don't even know now what I did) and pictures came up with none of my message and it said it was rejected because I did not name the link. I will try posting the pictures tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to do it right. Sorry but I'm going to quit now while my computer is still in one piece because my patience is wearing verrrrry thin. Colleen...See Morewhich countertop with light maple flooring and cherry cabinets
Comments (8)Almost any color would work with natural or light cherry and a light maple floor. Okay, probably not blue or red. But black, deep gray and dark green would all work, and even dark brown might work depending on the rest of the kitchen. I agree with Fori that dark would look best here. You need some contrast in a kitchen, and this is the place to do it. Here's Oxwich Green Cambria (quartz) as an example: http://www.cambriausa.com/collection.cfm/all-colors/oxwich%20green And here it is in real life, though with cream cabinets instead of cherry: http://www.cambriausa.com/galleryDetail.cfm?colorcode=6200&filename=P-115&colorname=Oxwich%20Green...See MoreWhich lamp do you like better?
Comments (31)Thanks everyone for the input. Busy bee, that is an interesting suggestion and I will try that placement. I placed the lamps over the place I like to sit and read, and they are great for that. The one with three shades can light up 1, 2 or all 3. I should also note that the ceiling is vaulted, at least 15 feet high at that point in the room, and I'm trying to get some height in the furnishings. my adult daughter agrees with most of you on #2, but as I mentioned my sister and decorating advisor likes #1, as I do. I had just about decided to just go with whatever DH liked, when he came home and said "wow, new lamp! I love the three shades!" so I'm still thinking, but leaning toward the triple....See MoreBedroom with off center windows and alot of blank wall space
Comments (8)I like your bedside tables but they are too big for the current location. They feel too visually tight and the one at the door overlaps the door frame - against the visual rules, looks weird. I agree with DM. It looks to me that the wall to place the front of the bed is the one opposite the closet/bathroom door wall. I cannot tell if you have enough room at the end of the bed to do this. It need not be a full wall of solid fabric draperies. It could be translucent fabric. Check out The Shade Store or Smith & Noble Draperies. Or there is always IDEA for a really cheap solution. It's ok if you see the door through the draperies. That should do the trick to pull the room together....See Morecalidesign
