Chimney range hoods--replacing under cabinet vent
Comments (2)Plumbing lines, uncapped electrical wires (i.e., freely hanging), vent ducting opposite what you imagined, to name a few. Until you get that soffit down (a little at a time rather than a plunge), you won't know what's up. I'd hope you at least have some friend with you when doing this to help out. How big is your current vent hood duct aperture? That may help you a little-it's sometimes easier to re-route or re-place a 6" round than a bigger 10". Good luck....See MoreKitchen Update Suggestions
Comments (9)Ann, Looks like a fun project and a nice big space to work with. We used polished Taj Mahal on taupe cabinets. I’m wondering if you have been seeing honed taj mahal slabs at the showrooms? To me they appeared grayer than the polished—Although I have heard that many t m slabs are coming in more grey toned these days. In any case, our slab showroom offered to search for slabs that I might like better—they had photos taken of possibilities To show us. Maybe yours would do that. We used Cambria in our baths and we were never able to see slabs. I did find one dealer who would lend me a foot square sample which helped a lot. There are many Berwyn kitchens pictured online if you google and that might help. As far as hardware, personally I waited until the cabs and counters were installed. I think it is hard to tell without seeing the whole layout. And there are a zillion choices. Good luck with you project. J....See MoreTransitional kitchen lighting update suggestions
Comments (3)Thanks for the input so far. I love this pendant but am not sure if that works for the island, and if I should match the finish to the cabinet hardware because this also comes in black. I have no idea how to choose a complimentary dining table fixture....See MoreLooking for Suggestions for Updating Kitchen Counter/Backsplash
Comments (2)If you like the laminate (yours is pretty cool and has sure worn well), Wilsonart has a lot of midcentury-inspired designs. I might go with a solid white counter (not laminate but Corian or a quartz) and a turquoise tile backsplash. Clearly you see how awesome turquoise is in there!...See MoreBarb
