Please help me decorate my dining room
Comments (17)Your new kitchen and DR spaces are so pretty! I can't offer anything as to the table, but just a word of caution about a bench. They seem to be trendy now and my son and DIL just bought a table and bench/chair set from CB for their new house. They had both sides of the family over for a housewarming and her brother (early 30's) said to me...under his breath....that the bench was very uncomfortable for a longer, family dinner. Think about it....how long would you be comfortable sitting at a picnic table on a hard bench with no back support? I say get nice chairs with upholstered seats....if you have kids you can always cover them with Sunbrella fabric for easier cleaning....See MorePlease help me decorate my living room and dining area
Comments (19)When it comes to hanging art, keep in mind those Velcro Command Strips. I use them to hang almost everything and they don't damage the walls. They hold a surprising amount of weight. That metal scrollwork would probably take one nail, but most artwork, unless the frames are really heavy, can be hung with the command strips. I'm not so sure the metal piece is "farmhouse." Rustic, probably. When I think farmhouse, though, I don't think of that type of piece. I think you can do better, but if you really LOVE it, then go for it! I do like the upholstered ottoman but I like yayagal's coffee table suggestion even better! It will definitely help set the farmhouse tone you want....See MoreHelp! Comments (2)Do you own or is this a rental? The pix look a little stretched like realty ones. Since there is a rad between the doors, forget putting TV there. I'd keep the dining close to the kitchen and put the sitting/TV area to focus on the long wall. Start with the fun project of finding a knockout chandelier to hang from that pretty ceiling. Is there a fridge under the microwave? I see only one wall outlet behind the door and one above the counter, so you'll have to use extension cords and cord covers along the baseboards to have enough lighting here. Consider floating your sofa facing the long wall and TV. Then use a drop leaf table behind it for dining. You'll be able to open it all the way for entertaining. Anchor your seating area with a rug 2-3 feet wider than your sofa....See MoreHelp me finish my new Dining room decor!
Comments (35)loobab Our china is quite simple. They are white with a goldish platinum accents. I would pull it out and take a photo but god knows where those boxes are! Curtains I totally agree. I was going to go with something closer to the wall colours maybe a the cream side like the chairs. It may be hard to decide but I need to start ordering samples ASAP. My kitchen cabinets are a dark gunmetal blue. I love them! They bring in so much interest in the space and its so unexpected. The builder thought I was nuts going blue but once he saw the final product he absolutely loved it! I agree about the tile as well. People told me to go traditional but as you can see, Im not that kinda chick! lol...See MoreSammie J
